New R$31 million viaduct aims to transform urban mobility and road safety. Delivery forecast has already been set.
The city of Londrina is preparing for a transformation in urban mobility which can radically impact local and metropolitan traffic.
Um new viaduct, with a total cost of R $ million 31, promises to ease the routine of drivers who cross the busy junction of BR 369 with Jockey Club Avenue.
The location is known for intense traffic jams and accidents that, for years, have affected traffic in the region and limited road safety for those accessing the campus. PUC Londrina.
- Federal government has already allocated R$3,8 BILLION for the Rouanet Law
- São Paulo coast gains pulp terminal capable of impacting 2 BILLION people
- BNDES and Finep receive R$167 billion in proposals for the development of biorefineries in Brazil, the volume of proposals exceeds available resources and reinforces the country's potential in the biofuels sector
- Asphalt? No way! The Brazilian state follows the example of the US and will renovate 340 km of highway with concrete, which lasts twice as long as the conventional asphalt used today in Brazil and is cheaper
But how does this work promise to redesign mobility in one of the most dynamic regions of Paraná?
Investment and its structuring: a strategic project
According to Paraná Highway Department (DER/PR), local authority of Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics (SEIL), the work includes not only the construction of the viaduct, but a series of road and urban modifications to optimize the use of space.
The project involves R$ 31.069.120,00 for foundations and other complex structures. The aim is to solve chronic flow and safety problems.
According to DER/PR, current traffic is diverted to marginal roads and a roundabout while the demolition of the BR-369 federal highway takes place.
From there, the team began the foundation work, followed by the installation of pillars and consoles, essential components to support the central beams and the prestressed solid slabs which will guarantee stability and durability to the structure.
Foundations, pillars and road safety
As the foundations progress, the pillars and consoles are concreted.
These structures, according to civil engineering experts, are essential to maintain safety and support the viaduct's upper infrastructure.
In parallel, the teams began implementing containment of the structure to ensure the slope stability by new lanes on BR-369, a crucial factor in allowing the elevation of the roads that will provide access to the new main runway.
Traffic will be divided in order to optimize flow and ensure the safety of those using the highway.
Metropolitan and long-distance traffic will pass through the upper section, while local traffic will be able to use the underpass, where two roundabouts will be implemented.
These roundabouts will allow you to turn to access the highway or cross it safely.
Mobility and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists
In addition to improvements in vehicle traffic, the project includes concrete sidewalks, horizontal and vertical signs, in addition to a system of Street lighting.
These elements seek to promote safety and accessibility for both pedestrians and cyclists who travel nearby.
The improvement also includes landscaping, a commitment to beautifying the region that should benefit the surrounding area. PUC Londrina University, one of the busiest places in Londrina.
As highlighted by DER/PR, the construction of these sidewalks and other accessibility resources aims to make access to university services and other nearby areas safer and more appropriate.
Delivery forecast and weather factors
Expectations point to delivery in first half of next year, although weather conditions may impact the progress of the work.
According to DER/PR, rain is a relevant factor for construction on Paraná soil, which already records periods of high humidity at certain times of the year.
The work is part of a set of strategic measures by the state government to improve road infrastructure and to reduce accident rates on BR-369.
Londrina, which is suffering from the pressure of increasing traffic, will be the biggest beneficiary of this project, according to experts in traffic and urban engineering.
With a project worth more than R$31 million underway, do you think Londrina will really have an infrastructure capable of easing traffic congestion and reducing accidents?
