Video shows clumsy driver crashing world's highest-mileage Ferrari F40 on straight road

Shocking video shows the moment the world's highest-mileage Ferrari F40 is involved in a shocking crash on a perfectly straight road.

Images have emerged of the accident involving a Ferrari F40, which occurred in the United States, supposedly the unit with the highest mileage recorded in the world.

The short video reveals how these iconic old-school machines still command absolute respect, even in seemingly ordinary conditions.

A little rain and a driving error were enough to damage one of the rarest supercars on the planet.

The footage is only seven seconds long, but it's enough to show how quickly the incident unfolded. At first, everything seems under control.

The next second, the car is already off the road. The F40 enters the highway in a straight line, but in a fraction of a second, it loses control and slides violently. The reason? Oversteer on takeoff.

The sound of the engine reveals what happened. The driver still has his foot on the accelerator when he abruptly cuts the power.

The car's nose responds immediately, turning sharply to the right. The driver tries to correct it with a quick countersteer, but there's not much room. The Ferrari is already sliding before he can regain control.

Photos released show that the F40 was equipped with street tires in apparently reasonable condition, which indicates that it was not a case of inadequate equipment.

The problem, it seems, was a combination of lack of experience and the skittish nature of a thirty-year-old supercar with a powerful engine and rear-wheel drive, without modern electronic aids.

Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40, launched in 1987 to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary, remains one of the most revered models in automotive history. Its 8-liter twin-turbo V2.9 engine delivers 478 horsepower, capable of taking the car from 0 to 100 mph in just 4,1 seconds.

Without traction control or modern assists, driving an F40 requires constant skill and respect.

In the case of this accident, the light rain was enough to turn a peaceful outing into an expensive lesson.

The lack of reaction time, combined with the sheer power and light weight of the chassis, resulted in damage that will likely take time and money to repair. Despite this, the passion for classic supercars lives on, and the F40 remains a living legend.
