Proof of English proficiency?! Always this problem. Even if you have a good project, the candidate comes up against this obstacle of mastering the foreign language. This should be reconsidered. My case, specifically. Sad end of Policarpo!!!

This is always the question. We are Brazilian and we speak Portuguese. Why not test our language to see if the candidate has mastered their native language to become a master? Their speaking ability, their eloquence in presenting their project or thesis? What is this problem with English? It may be the “global language” but it cannot continue to be, in the technological era in which we live, an element that disqualifies those who have the competence to develop relevant research!

The requirement for English in master's programs does not mean that the Portuguese language is devalued, but rather that it is an essential tool for accessing global knowledge. English is the dominant language in academic production, especially in areas such as science, technology and the humanities, where most relevant articles and conferences are written in this language. In addition, proficiency in English allows access to a wide range of materials and research sources, many of which are not available in Portuguese. The ability to read and understand texts in English is crucial for constant updating and for developing solid and relevant research. Therefore, knowing English is a differential that increases opportunities for academic exchange, scientific production and insertion in the global scenario.

If a future master's student does not have knowledge of the universal and easy-to-understand Mayan language of the world, it is advisable to review their knowledge.

Learn English! It's the language the world speaks. Don't wait for institutions or companies to change. Go ahead and learn English. It will give you self-confidence and help you professionally and personally.

I agree with you!!! The tests require fluency in the English language, but when we carry out the project, we will have access to dictionaries and time to research the vocabulary!!! It's a shame!!!

It's not fluency in a foreign language. It's proficiency.
They are distinct objects. Fluency is one thing and proficiency is another.

Proficiency is the ability to read and interpret technical texts in a language other than your native language.
You don't need to know how to write or speak the required language.
See more information at COGEAE/PUC-SP.
There is a set of reading techniques in foreign languages that will quickly give you enough resources to read technical texts (in your field of knowledge) in almost all foreign languages, including English.

I am interested, however, I am already excluded from the possibility of growth, as I do not qualify for the English proficiency item.

CEFET is a pioneer in the expansion of free and quality stricto sensu knowledge in a democratic way. Giving a run for its money to pompous universities that want to maintain their status. No matter how many master's degrees we can take through distance learning, we will overcome geographical and socioeconomic barriers.

The thing about English is to eliminate those who are truly interested, not everyone is fluent in English. I am interested in doing a master's degree. I know the **** of **** about English, if it were Spanish it would be okay, we don't even have a good command of Portuguese, our English got worse.

Regarding English proficiency, I have reservations about this topic. We urgently need qualified professionals (here in the country with the skills and training to provide sustainability, here in this nation where our native language is Portuguese). Our problems will be solved through communication and the development of projects to be interpreted and executed in Portuguese. Because of this requirement (English proficiency), the projects will be developed for Brazil or for English-speaking countries.
Let's value our HOMELAND, our people, our culture and our language. In the USA, in Germany they do not require proficiency in foreign languages. Only here. This is a form of exclusion and not a way of measuring competence...!
