The specialization is made up of four series of courses:
Perfect and Modal Tenses
This starter course, called “Learn English: Intermediate Grammar,” explores essential verb tenses such as present perfect, present perfect progressive, past perfect, and past perfect progressive. According to the University of California, students will also learn about the most common modal verbs. Aimed at those who already have a basic understanding of English grammar, this course aims to improve speaking and writing skills for everyday and academic use, promising fun classes and informative videos.
Adjectives and Adjective Clauses
The second course focuses on the skillful use of adjective clauses, crucial for advanced-level students. According to information from the University, adjectives and adjective clauses are frequent in English, and it is important that students understand and use them skillfully. Although all classes and practical activities are free, tests and assignment feedback are only available in the paid version.
Complicated English Grammar
Learning English can be challenging due to its complex grammar rules. This one course offers tips to make these rules easier to understand, providing lots of practice with everyday English grammar. According to the University of California, the free version provides all instructional videos and handouts, but peer feedback and tests are exclusive to paid subscribers.
Intermediate Grammar Project
To finish the specialization, students will create a grammar scrapbook, using a multimedia tool of their choice, such as a video or e-book. According to the university, this project aims to consolidate the learning of difficult or interesting grammatical structures studied during the course, with authentic examples taken from articles, films or songs.
