Google arrives with everything: Technology giant announces new Engineering Center in Brazil and opens several job opportunities
In February, Google announced the launch of a new Engineering Center within the IPT Open initiative, a partnership with the Technological Research Institute (IPT), in São Paulo. The project, which involves the transformation of a historic IPT building, the Adriano Marchini Building, is progressing and aims to create an innovative environment where Google engineers will work on developing technological solutions for tools widely used applications such as Gmail, Search, Maps and YouTube. The space is expected to be completed by 2026, offering a modern environment while preserving the building's rich architectural history.
The restoration of the building, originally constructed in 1940, is an important milestone in this partnership. In addition to preserving its external features, the building will undergo a series of internal adaptations to provide a more modern and efficient environment for people who want to work at Google.
Google has already delivered in return the transfer of a library and a creation space (makerspace), which were moved to other buildings. These spaces are being inaugurated today, marking another completed stage in the revitalization of the site.

With a focus on environmental preservation, all renovations are being planned to cause the least possible impact on environment. The new Google Engineering Center will be part of a global network of safety centers, known as Google Safety Engineering Centers (GSEC), that already exist in cities including Munich, Malaga and Dublin. These centers are dedicated to tackling online security challenges and protecting the privacy of users around the world, making the internet a safer space.
Innovations in security and privacy
The São Paulo GSEC will play a fundamental role in the development of solutions focused on cybersecurity and data protection.
The presence of this center in Brazil will bring a series of opportunities for collaboration between local authorities, companies and academics, creating an innovation ecosystem that will contribute to the development of advanced technologies.
The goal is to solve emerging issues related to online privacy, safety and security, aligning with Google's long-term commitment to digital security.
Accessibility Center: Inclusion as a Priority
Another major highlight of the new Engineering Center is the installation of the first Accessibility Discovery Center (ADC) in Latin America. This space will be dedicated to the creation and promotion of technologies that make the digital world more accessible to people with disabilities. Google already has similar structures in cities such as London, Dublin and Zurich, and the arrival of this center in São Paulo is an important step towards advancing technological inclusion in Brazil.
The ADC will function as a collaborative laboratory where people with disabilities can participate in product development, providing feedback and helping to shape solutions that best meet their needs. In addition, education and training programs will be offered for developers and researchers, focused on accessible design and best practices for digital inclusion.
This space will also feature an experimentation environment where users can test new tools and technologies, providing valuable insights for continuous improvement. This initiative reinforces Google’s commitment to its mission of making information universally accessible, promoting digital inclusion and improving the lives of millions of people.
Expansion and opportunities in Brazil for those who want to work at Google
In collaboration with teams based at the Belo Horizonte Engineering Center, the first of its kind in Latin America, the engineering office in São Paulo will be multidisciplinary. This means that Google will have teams with experts in areas such as artificial intelligence, software engineering, product management, projects, UX, design, business management, cybersecurity and data.
While the new Engineering Center is slated to open in 2026, the company is already hiring talent. Would you like to work at Google? See the opportunities available on our careers page (goo.gle/vagasBR).
