Before the conflict in Ukraine, Russia's share of Brazilian oil imports was insignificant, representing less than 2%.

In recent years, Brazil has emerged as a major oil exporter, racking up consecutive historical records. In the 12-month period through August, Brazilian oil exports reached an impressive US $ 61 billion, which reflects a growth of approximately 180% in the last 10 years. However, it is important to highlight that, in addition to exporting, Brazil also imports significantly this resource.

Brazil's surplus in the oil trade balance is notable. Despite large imports, the balance was positive at US$34,62 billion in the 12 months through August. This represents a turnaround compared to previous years, when the country faced considerable deficits in the oil account. Even so, oil imports in the same period totaled US$26,32 billion, although this figure represents an 18% drop compared to the previous year.

Even with the drop, the imported volume is still significant. Brazil needs to acquire crude oil of certain qualities to meet the demands of some local refineries. In addition, diesel is the most widely used fuel for cargo transportation in the country, which increases the need for imports of this derivative.

VEHICLE ACCESSORIES - FREE MARKET

Brazil imported US$9,37 billion worth of diesel from Russia, a figure that corresponds to 36% of total oil imports, and the US goes on alert

In the last 12 months, Brazil imported US$ 9,37 billion in diesel, a value that corresponds to 36% of total oil imports. In addition, US$ 8,8 billion in crude oil, US$ 2,69 billion in naphtha and US$ 1,55 billion in gasoline were purchased, reflecting the diversity of products needed for the national market.

One fact that has caught the attention of the US is the growth of Russia as an oil supplier to Brazil. Before the conflict in Ukraine, Russia's share of Brazilian oil imports was insignificant, representing less than 2%. However, after the outbreak of the war in April 2022, there was a notable expansion in sales of Russian oil to Brazil.

In concrete numbers, Russia's oil exports to Brazil, mostly in the form of diesel (85%), soared from US$780 million in 2022 to an impressive US$7,47 billion in 2024. As a result, Russia's share of Brazilian oil imports jumped from 2,7% in 2022 to a remarkable 28% in 2024.

The United States loses its position to Russia and falls to second in the ranking of oil suppliers to Brazil

Despite Russia's growth, the United States remains one of Brazil's main oil suppliers. In the 12 months to August 2024, the United States exported around US$6 billion worth of oil, representing 22,7% of Brazil's total oil imports.

Another relevant player in this scenario is Saudi Arabia, which, in the last 12 months, was responsible for 9% of Brazil's oil imports.

Although Brazil is self-sufficient in oil extraction, we have made the mistake in recent decades of not becoming self-sufficient in refining. There is a lack of refineries, especially for processing diesel. This is different from the United States, which is energy self-sufficient, thanks mainly to shale oil, but which still imports oil (heavy oil) and thus exports light oil, which is more valuable.

The US was the one who destroyed the refining system through its parliamentarians and the **** media, which is intercessory, anti-nationalist and traitors to the country, through Lava Jato and through several other examples since the creation of Petrobras! All Brazilian TV media is ****! They sabotage and work for the US, which has always worked to make Brazil an underworld! If you want to be a first world country, then get rid of the US, don't suck up and invest in education and leave the US aside. Ban the construction of the 9-story embassy that will be a sabotage bunker for all of Latin America and cancel any military contract with them!

It is clear that you do not know the oil market. The money in oil is its extraction from the earth and distribution. The refinery does not make money, it takes a long time to pay for itself and it is a huge risk. We are building the refinery right now. Before you comment, understand how the market works. Because of this, Petrobras used to make a profit.

Apparently, Ciro, you are one of those who agreed with gender and number the surrender policies that began with the deforestation of Petrobras with Vazajato and ended with the **** of jewels that handed over refineries to private capital. For me, these ๐Ÿ’Ž probably have everything to do with them right after the conclusion of the sale of the Bahia refinery that the Abdullah group, which is a Saudi company, the **** Ministers appear to me with those jewels. Why would the Saudi prince give those ๐Ÿ’Ž if it weren't a bribe? The **** imagined that by selling them in the US he would be able to pocket the $ as he always does, but he ended up in trouble. He will soon be arrested.

If you study history a little, you will see that at the end of the FHC government, Petrobras was in disrepair and destroyed โ€“ Lula restructured the company and invested in the Pre-Salt, which is what made Petrobras great again. During Dilma's government, the problem was external โ€“ Saudi Arabia lowered the price of oil to US$25,00 to eliminate it with shale gas from the USA โ€“ and this harmed all oil companies in the world, including Petrobras โ€“ which automatically regained its value with the increase in the price of oil and not due to any government action. In fact, the high price is good for the company but bad for all of us because it makes transportation, industry, food more expensiveโ€ฆ because everything depends on oil.

Another person manipulated by the big media who sells out and has an inferiority complex, Color, FHC, Temer and **** were presidents who sold out Brazilian wealth and were responsible for holding Brazil back. Getรบlio Vargas, JK, Geisel and Lula always fought for the development and emancipation of Brazil. The USA only allows tiny countries to develop, such as: Switzerland, Sweden, Chile, Taiwan, Japan, etc.

How come it doesn't make money? The Abreu e Lima Refinery has already paid for itself with the profits obtained by refining oil at 40% of its capacity in December 2015. Go study, you LIAR who spreads Fake News. Only under this government was it decided and they are concluding term 2, to produce 100% of capacity. Petrobras was making a lot of profit because it stopped investing in new discoveries and sold 4 refineries, gas pipelines and the distributor. All of this turned into dividends for the shareholders.

What a comment from someone who has no knowledge of the subject, petroleum derivatives are the great source of income, they add much more value, remember that during Dilma's impeachment, Brazil was building refineries to become self-sufficient in derivatives, which was not in the interests of the US because Brazil buys derivatives from them, they are irritated because they are buying from Russia.

The one who hinders and boycotts the growth and development of countries with large territorial extension and population is the USA, given that if these countries develop they threaten American hegemony, stop being sycophants, get better informed, drop the mongrel complex, look at what China faces to develop, as they have a solid and ancient culture they managed to excel, while Brazil, as a country with a population with low education levels, cannot escape the clutches of the Americans.

Unfortunately, the current Brazilian government is killing innocent people in Ukraine and destroying their country as it sends more money to Russia to buy products from Russia. Russia uses this money in the war against Ukraine, so this is what happens. Unfortunately, the Brazilian government does not create jobs or companies in order to stay in power. It could have more refineries to replace the Bolsa Famรญlia program and maintain the vote-rigging program. Each person who receives the Bolsa Famรญlia program, for ideological reasons, only votes for the party that granted it. This is a guaranteed vote in elections. The government is not concerned with national development, but with staying in power.
