West Azeri Platform, in the Caspian Sea, reaches 1 billion barrels. Members of the SOCOR, MOL, INPEX, Equinor, ExxonMobil, TPAO, ITOCHU, ONGCVidesh family celebrate.
The West Azeri platform, which is part of the ACG oil structure in the Caspian Sea, recently reached the 1 billion barrel mark in full production.
The announcement was made by BP, operator of the ACG oil field, on behalf of its partners SOCAR, MOL, INPEX, Equinor, ExxonMobil, TPAO, ITOCHU and ONGCVidesh. The West Azeri production platform has contributed significantly to the 4,3 billion barrels of total ACG production since the field was commissioned in November 1997.

The West Azerbaijan platform opened in December 2005.
Currently, around 200 people work on the platform, the majority of whom are Azerbaijani citizens, including the platform's two managers.

More than 40 wells and several diversions have been drilled in western Azerbaijan since 2005. At the moment, 35 of them are active – 26 producers and nine water injectors.
One of the first wells that came into operation in 2005 is C-06 – a top producing well with an initial production rate of 35.000 barrels of oil per day. To date, the well has delivered a total production of 80 million barrels.
West Azerbaijan's current daily production is 85.000 barrels of oil.
