Volkswagen's billion-dollar investment and sustainable innovation promise to transform the national automotive market

Volkswagen has announced a historic milestone for the Brazilian automotive industry: the production of hybrid cars in the country will begin in 2025. This step is part of a investment of BRL 16 billion until 2028, consolidating the the automaker's commitment to sustainability and technological innovation, according to the News Motor website.

Key highlights of Volkswagen's hybrid car project

Production plants

  • Sao Carlos (SP): Production of the 1.5 TSI Evo engine.
  • Sao Bernardo do Campo (SP): Platform development MQB Hybrid.

Hybrid technology

  • Volkswagen hybrid cars will feature the system eTSI, a 48-volt mild hybrid already used in Volkswagen models in Europe.
  • Greater energy efficiency, reduced fuel consumption and lower pollutant emissions.

1.5 TSI Evo engine: Cutting-edge technology

The 1.5 TSI Evo engine will be the heart of this new line of hybrid cars. As part of the EA211 family, it is an evolution of the 1.4 TSI engine and brings several innovations:

  • Variable Geometry Turbocharger: Improves efficiency, especially at low revs.
  • Miller Cycle: Ensures greater efficiency in fuel consumption.
  • Active Cylinder Deactivation: Optimizes performance in different driving conditions.

In Europe, the engine is approved for 150 hp and 25,5 kgfm of torque, numbers that can be surpassed in the national flex version.
