Santa Rosa Airport, located in Rio Grande do Sul, is about to take a big leap in terms of infrastructure

Last Wednesday, the 29th, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, signed the Service Order that authorizes the start of the modernization works at the Luís Alberto Lehr airfield, marking a crucial moment for regional aviation and impacting the entire surrounding community.

The impact of modernization works

This initiative is part of the Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC) and is part of a strategic effort by the Federal Government to strengthen air connectivity in the country.

According to Minister Silvio Costa Filho, the expansion of Santa Rosa Airport not only modernizes the infrastructure, but also has a direct impact on the local economy.

“This work represents a significant advance for the state, improving regional aviation and generating new employment and income opportunities, in addition to stimulating tourism,” said the minister.

With the works, the airport will have a more robust infrastructure, with capacity to receive larger aircraft, such as models that can transport up to 150 passengers.

This will provide greater connectivity between Santa Rosa and other cities in Brazil, as well as facilitating the flow of tourists and business to the region.

Airport improvements

The modernization project encompasses a series of essential improvements.

The main one is the expansion of the landing and take-off runway, which will be expanded from 1.200 meters to 1.630 meters, allowing the airport to receive larger aircraft with greater passenger capacity.

In addition, a new taxiway and an aircraft apron will be built.

The security area will also be expanded, with new paved and unpaved areas, totaling 1.930 meters in length.

Another important point of the project is the installation of drainage systems, new air navigation aids, the construction of an operational fence and the requalification of road access to the airport, ensuring greater safety and efficiency for passenger traffic and air operations.

New vacancies Parking spaces will also be created, meeting the growing demand.

Benefits for the community and the region

In addition to the physical improvements to the airport, the modernization works will also have a significant impact on the economic development of Santa Rosa and neighboring municipalities.

Mayor Anderson Mantei emphasized that every real invested in the works and in federal resources will be well applied, creating a solid base for the sustainable growth of the region.

He believes that improvements in airport will reduce air fares and open doors to new business opportunities, as well as foster tourism, boosting the local economic sector.

The new infrastructure will be an attraction for companies looking to expand their operations in the region, offering more efficient logistics and connectivity with other parts of Brazil and the world.

For residents of the region, the works mean greater accessibility and the possibility of cheaper flights, which expands transportation and travel options.

The importance of modernization in the national context

The modernization of Santa Rosa Airport is also aligned with the goals of the National Aviation Plan (PAN), which aims to improve Brazil's air infrastructure to increase the country's competitiveness on the global stage.

The project is another step towards ensuring that Brazil has a modern airport network capable of meeting the growing demand for regional flights.
