Bracell's massive investment reinforces Mato Grosso do Sul's leadership in the cellulose sector and promises to transform the local economy

A bracelet, the world leader in the production of dissolving pulp, has announced an impressive investment of US $ 4 billion for the construction of a new pulp mill em Clear water, Mato Grosso do Sul. This ambitious project was revealed during the Brazil-Indonesia Business Forum, a parallel event to the G20, held in Rio de Janeiro.

Economic impact and job creation

With a production capacity of 2,8 million tons of cellulose per year, the new plant is set to transform the local economy. The facility, which will be located just 15 kilometers from the city limits, promises to generate around 10 jobs during the construction phase and 3 thousand permanent jobs when it is in operation, according to the portalcelular website.

Government support and incentives

The project has the support of the state government, with the governor Eduardo Riedel actively participating in the event alongside the secretaries Rodrigo Perez e Jaime Verruck. Riedel stressed the importance of this investment for the state, highlighting the strategic role of Mato Grosso do Sul as a pulp hub. “Our role is to create a favorable business environment so that companies in this segment can invest and prosper,” said the governor.

During the negotiations, the state delegation addressed crucial aspects such as environmental licensing, tax breaks e logistical improvements. One of the highlights was the announcement of the auction of the highways in Cellulose Route, scheduled for December 6th on the Stock Exchange, which should further facilitate the expansion of the sector.

Expansion and sustainability

Jaime Verruck confirmed that the environmental licensing process for the new plant is already underway, with completion scheduled for February 2025. “Bracell already has a strong base in Água Clara and is expanding to Santa Rita do Pardo and Bataguassu, consolidating its presence with more than two thousand jobs and a nursery that employs more than 250 women.”, highlighted Verruck.

Promising future for Mato Grosso do Sul

With the addition of this new plant, Mato Grosso do Sul is getting closer to having six pulp mills in operation, solidifying its position as one of the largest pulp production hubs in Brazil. This investment not only reinforces the state’s leadership in the sector, but also promises to provide a significant boost to the local economy, creating opportunities and fostering sustainable development.
