Toledo Brasil receives R$37,2 million from BNDES to create innovative solutions that will improve the performance of sectors such as industry, commerce, agriculture and services
Toledo do Brasil, a leader in the weighing solutions sector, has received a significant boost in its innovation journey. Through the BNDES Mais Inovação program, aimed at fostering the development of new products and solutions, company secured R$37,2 million in support from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). This investment will be essential for the creation of 13 new products that aim to improve the performance of industry, commerce, agriculture and services, consolidating the commitment to technological modernization.
Os BNDES investments are part of a R$39,4 million plan by Toledo do Brasil for innovation and development of cutting-edge technologies. The goal is to create competitive solutions that can rival foreign technologies, with the potential to increase Brazil's presence in the market international. Among the planned innovations, products that integrate artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and computer vision stand out.
One of the most anticipated innovations is the development of a scale that, using cameras, will be able to identify products without labels, such as fruits and vegetables, speeding up processes in the food sector.

The use of AI will also enable the creation of other innovative systems, such as one for livestock farming. This system will use cameras and algorithms to estimate the weight of animals in pasture, eliminating the need to transport them to pens, which can reduce animal stress and improve productivity.
In the logistics area, another project supported by BNDES investments is dynamic weighing, which will allow the weighing of trains and trucks in motion. This technology promises efficiency gains, greater traceability of information and connectivity between machines and Toledo's cloud platform, called Cloud Prix.
Edson José Freire, vice president-CEO of Toledo of Brazil, commented on the importance of financial support: “Having the support of BNDES is essential to boost the economy through our businesses. We are already present in several segments, such as industry, retail and agriculture, and these resources reinforce our journey of innovation in the use of AI and IoT.”. The company, which employs more than 1.600 people and has 435 specialized technical workshops spread across the country, is constantly expanding its technological capabilities.
The relevance of BNDES investments in innovation was reinforced by the president of the institution, Aloizio Mercadante, who highlighted the growth in demand for credit for innovation with the new industrial policy of the federal government.Investment in industrial innovation for the development of new processes and products is essential for the country. With the new industrial policy of President Lula's government, the demand for credit for innovation has increased by more than 230% at BNDES. This year, we should reach around R$7,5 billion in financing approvals for this purpose.”, said Mercadante.
José Luís Gordon, director of Productive Development, Innovation and Foreign Trade at BNDES, also highlighted the importance of this support: “Innovation is one of the pillars of the Plano Mais Produção, the financing arm of Nova Indústria Brasil. With resources at an adequate cost to support development risks, we want to encourage the productive sector to seek new solutions to reposition Brazil on the international stage, generating income and qualified jobs in the country.".
With partnership between BNDES and Toledo do Brasil, the country is expected to take a leap towards technological modernization, especially in crucial sectors such as agriculture, livestock and logistics.
