The FUP called oil workers to a strike this Friday against the project to privatize the state's assets. The strike aims to attract Petrobras to further discussions on the reasons for continuing the Temer Government's initiative.
This Friday (24/03), the market for oil and natural gas Brazilian may witness yet another mass stoppage in the form of protest. The Single Federation of Petroleum Workers (FUP) called on oil workers across the country to strike against Petrobras' asset privatization project. The initiative, put into practice in the Temer Government, will continue to be carried out, even under a new management in the administration of the state oil company.

The FUP is calling on oil workers from all over Brazil to carry out a strike this Friday, against the continuity of the privatization project started in the Temer Government and intensified in the Bolsonaro Government.
“The decision of the executive board, published on 17/3, foresees proceeding with the sale of projects that have already had a pre-contract signed: Polo Norte Capixaba, Polos Golfinho and Camarupim (ES), Polos Pescada and Potiguar (RN) and Lubnor ( CE)”, criticizes the FUP.

- Green energy revolution: Biomethane replaces natural gas in sustainable ammonia production, reducing dependence on fossil fuels
- No soy or sugarcane! Brazil's largest exported product is oil, to the delight of Petrobras and other companies in the sector.
- From pre-salt to the largest gas reserve: Petrobras discovers 6 trillion cubic feet of gas in Colombia and leads global energy revolution
The organization of oil workers criticizes the continuity of the initiative, even after the change of the Federal Government and the presidency of the state-owned company.
The strike on the 24th is a way of putting pressure on Petrobras to negotiate with oil tankers and seek a solution to the impasse. The FUP also claims that the strike is an extreme measure, but that it may be necessary if the company maintains its posture of selling assets.
The company's privatization processes, initiated during Michel Temer's government, have been the target of various criticisms in the Brazilian market, including from Lula himself.
The president has already stated that he is against the privatization of Petrobras' assets, as has the company's new executive, Jean Paul Prates.
Still managed by the management of the previous government, the company told the market that “it does not see grounds for the contracts signed to be suspended”.
The strike to be held at the end of this week seeks answers for the FUP and other oil workers about the current situation of the privatization project.
Remnant of the Bolsonaro Government at the state-owned company still fighting for the privatization of assets. Strike by FUP and oil workers reinforces dissatisfaction with the project
During the Bolsonaro government, the Petrobras sale process aimed to keep only the assets in the Southeast region and concentrate the company's activities on the production of oil and natural gas in the pre-salt layer.
On the other hand, the Lula government aims to expand the state-owned company's operations throughout the country, in several sectors and states, and stop sales that have not yet been completed.
During the administration of the last president, a total of 54 assets of the company were sold to the private market, reaching the mark of R$ 175 billion. Now, the remainder of the Bolsonarist bench in the company's administration is struggling to complete some other privatizations.
“It is inadmissible that professionals aligned with the previous government remain entrenched in the company's management, making the government program that was approved at the ballot box unfeasible,” said FUP's general coordinator, Deyvid Bacelar.
Petrobras has not yet commented on the announcement of the oil workers' and FUP's strike next Friday.
