The selection process was officially launched by the Federal University of ABC in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (UAB).
The notice, published in 30 January 2025, aims to select scholarship tutors to work in distance education.
The initiative seeks to improve the quality of remote teaching and promote students’ academic development.
The main position offered is that of Distance Learning Tutor, and the selected professionals will have the opportunity to work remotely, assisting students, mediating discussions and promoting an efficient learning environment.
Furthermore, the tutor plays a fundamental role in adapting the content to the digital format, ensuring that the methodology applied favors learning.
Distance learning tutor duties
The selected tutors will work directly with students on the Specialization in Science Teaching course, assisting in the development of activities and ensuring that remote teaching maintains the expected quality. The main functions include:
- Ongoing academic support: tutors will be responsible for guiding students in relation to the program content and answering questions;
- Activity mediation: they will assist in the application of exercises and assessments within virtual learning environments;
- performance monitoring: analyzing students' progress will be one of the main tasks, with the aim of identifying difficulties and proposing pedagogical solutions;
- Use of educational technology: the tutor will need to master digital platforms and distance learning tools to enhance student learning.
vacancies and requirements
Were made available 6 vacancies for tutors, with strict selection criteria. To participate in the process, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience at basic or higher levels;
- Postgraduate Lato Sensu (Specialization) and/or Stricto Sensu in areas related to the course;
- Updated knowledge in digital technologies and distance learning tools;
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching in distance learning courses.
According to CAPES Ordinance No. 309, of September 27, 2024, approved tutors will receive a monthly tutoring grant worth R$1.100,00.
Payment will be made directly by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), an agency linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC):, responsible for financing programs aimed at teacher training.
Selective Process
The selection process will be carried out in stages and will assess the qualifications of candidates according to the criteria established in the notice:
- Curriculum analysis: The documents presented will be scored according to the Scoring Table in Annex I of the notice;
- Resources and justifications: Candidates may appeal between February 21 and 25, 2025, if they disagree with the preliminary analysis;
- Final result: The final list of selected candidates will be released on February 28, 2025.
