Investments in road works in São Paulo generate 10,2 thousand jobs, including widening of roads, new lanes, walkways and bus stops on the highways.

O Sao Paulo's State Government continued his series of auctions for the granting of the Sorocabana Route. This is the second auction in a series that aims to attract significant investments to the State, totaling around R$20 billion, generating many jobs in São Paulo.

The concession involves a 460-kilometer stretch of highways in the southwest region of São Paulo, and received proposals from four renowned companies in the infrastructure sector.

Sorocabana Route Project: Investment and Development

The Rota Sorocabana is part of the 1.800 kilometers of highways qualified in Investment Partnership Program of the State of São Paulo (PPI-SP). This program aims to boost road infrastructure through public-private partnerships, promoting improvements that positively impact transportation and the region's economy.

Jobs in São Paulo and structural works

With the expectation of creating more than 10,2 direct and indirect jobs in São Paulo, the project includes a series of works that aim to improve the safety and efficiency of highways. Among the main improvements, the following stand out:

  • Duplication of lanes: Widening of lanes to improve vehicle flow and reduce travel time.
  • Deployment of additional lanes: Increased lane options to ease traffic during peak hours.
  • New walkways and shoulders: Inclusion of support structures for pedestrians and vehicles, increasing safety along the highways.
  • Construction of bus stops on the highways: Provide greater comfort for public transport users who use the roads daily.

In addition to improvements for drivers and pedestrians, the project also includes investments in special works of art, such as viaducts and bridges, which will facilitate circulation and reduce travel time in the region.

Roads involved and concession management

The concession includes rural stretches that are currently operated by ViaOeste, such as the Castello Branco highway, and other roads under the responsibility of the São Paulo State Highway Department (DER-SP).

This concession process, with a duration of 30 years, projects a total investment of R$8,8 billion, being the largest among the five auctions promoted by PPI-SP.

The value of the minimum fixed concession, that is, the amount that the future concessionaire must pay to the public authority, was set at R$597,5 thousand.
