Senar and the Itapeva Rural Union are offering free courses to train rural producers in organic strawberry production, focusing on sustainable and profitable techniques. Check out how to sign up and take advantage of this opportunity!

Senar, in partnership with the Rural Union of Itapeva, is offering free courses that train producers and rural workers in the production of organic strawberries. The program, which lasted seven months, had the participation of farmers from several neighborhoods of Itapeva and provided a true immersion in the world of organic farming, from soil preparation to marketing the final product.

Training that transforms lives through Senar

The initiative goes far beyond teaching planting techniques. It is a true mindset change for local producers. Working with organic strawberries is a challenge, especially in times when the use of pesticides dominates the agricultural scene. But the course showed that it is possible to produce in a sustainable way, preserving the health of those who grow and those who consume.. And the best part: without sacrificing profitability. Producers learned, in practice, how to control pests and diseases with inputs permitted by organic farming, becoming more competitive and prepared to meet an increasingly demanding market.

The SENAR program was divided into seven modules over seven months, from March to September, and included everything from proper soil preparation, planting and seedling management, to cultural treatments, pest control, harvesting and even tips on how to market organic strawberries. And it wasn’t just technical lessons: for many, like producer Sandra Galvão, this was an opportunity to revolutionize their own financial lives. “With strawberry production, I was able to pay all my bills and even save money, something I hadn’t been able to do for years.”, he reported, highlighting the real economic impact of the program.

The role of courses in the diversification of cultures

This type of free course not only promotes the development of new skills, but also encourages diversification on rural properties. Leandro Silva Quevedo, coordinator of the Rural Union of Itapeva, highlighted the importance of this diversification, emphasizing how much organic strawberry production adds value to the work of producers.. In addition to improving the quality of life of families, the Senar program ensures that the end consumer has access to a higher quality product free of pesticides.

Producer Ana Alice was another who saw the program as an opportunity to grow. “My goal is to sell directly to consumers, without relying on middlemen, guaranteeing a good price and delivering a healthy product,” she said. The program gave her, and many others, the opportunity to become self-sufficient, expanding the range of cultivation and sales options.

How the selection process works

The course, promoted in partnership with the Rural Union of Itapeva, is aimed at producers and rural workers in the region. The objective is to train small farmers so that they can work with organic strawberries in an efficient and sustainable way. To participate, interested parties must be linked to the local Rural Union and meet basic criteria, such as availability for monthly meetings and interest in sustainable agricultural practices.

Courses offered by Senar

The training program is broad and comprehensive. Over the course of seven months, participants received practical and theoretical training in the following modules:

  • Soil preparation for organic strawberries
  • Planting and management of seedlings
  • Cultural treatments and irrigation
  • Pest and disease control without the use of agrochemicals
  • Harvesting and processing
  • Production cost
  • Marketing of organic strawberries

This schedule allows participants to have a complete overview of the production process, which ensures that they can, at the end of the course, start their own organic strawberry production safely and efficiently.
