The FPSO P-82 platform will be Petrobras' new bet for its Búzios field exploration campaign. ABB will supply Sembcorp Marine with the electrical automation system for the vessel construction project.
The campaign to expand Petrobras' presence in the Santos Basin is increasingly intense this year. This Friday (28/04), the ABB entered into the construction project for the new FPSO P-82 platform, being responsible for supplying the automation of the ship's electrical system to the company Sembcorp Marine. The vessel is the oil company's big bet for production in Campo de Búzios in the coming years.
Sembcorp Marine orders ABB the complete automation of the electrical system of P-82, Petrobras' new FPSO platform for the Santos Basin
Singapore's Sembcorp Marine has commissioned ABB to fully automate the electrical system for FPSO P-82.
The platform is Petrobras' new bet for operations in the Brazilian offshore region in the coming years. It will be deployed in the Búzios field, in ultra-deep waters in the Santos Basin, around 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

ABB is supplying the topside and hullside electrical systems for the P-82.
According to the release, the topside systems will be installed in an ABB eHouse solution – a prefabricated modular substation that the company says reduces costs, risk exposure and on-site labor.
Furthermore, once put into operation, the FPSO will be capable of producing 225.000 barrels of oil per day, in addition to having a processing capacity of 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Petrobras plans to deploy 18 offshore FPSO vessels in Brazil over the next four years, thus expanding its presence in the national oil and gas sector.
The arrival of ABB to the project to build the new FPSO reinforces the commitment of the state-owned oil company, together with Sembcorp Marine, to use state-of-the-art technology on the new vessel.
The objective of the undertaking is to place the oil company at an even higher level in the domestic fuel market.
State invests in the construction project of the new FPSO platform in Campo de Búzios together with Sembcorp Marine and ABB to meet market demands
Petrobras has invested heavily in advanced technologies to increase oil and gas production and reduce carbon emissions in the face of growing demand in the global market.
The deployment of new offshore FPSO vessels in Brazil is an important step in Petrobras' strategy to increase production and reduce carbon emissions.
With the help of Sembcorp Marine and ABB, the company is creating a fleet of modern and efficient vessels that are equipped with advanced automation and electrical power technologies.
Overall, the partnership between Sembcorp Marine and ABB in the construction of FPSO P-82 is a win for the oil and gas industry as it helps to make production more efficient and modern.
This collaboration is expected to continue into the future as Petrobras continues to invest in new projects and technologies to boost its production in the Campo de Búzios region with the new FPSO.
