Acelen has become the only producer of marine diesel in Bahia and has already started to supply its supply in Baía de Todos os Santos, through the Mother of God Terminal. This monthly production of 15 million cubic meters is underway to serve not only the domestic market in Bahia, but also to offer cabotage transport to other Brazilian cities and states such as the Northeast, North and Southeast.
The local production of marine diesel brings important benefits to logistics, reducing costs for distributors and providing better service to the Bahia market. In addition, it contributes to smaller vessels and fishing boats have access to quality fuel without having to move to other states. This new local offer enables greater synergy in the supply chain and benefits small and large vessels alike.
The use of bunker oil produced at the refinery allowed large vessels such as bulk carriers, container ships and oil tankers to supply auxiliary engines with marine diesel at the same terminal. This offer of two products provided these vessels with logistical and financial gains, in addition to reducing the environmental impact, as there is no need to travel long distances to obtain fuel. Thus, these nautical vehicles are able to considerably reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
