The acquisition of Celse and a 100% stake in the Porto de Sergipe thermoelectric plant represents an advance by Eneva in the domestic market. The company even got its first major infrastructure to develop its gas hub in Brazil.
The Brazilian electricity market is very busy. This is because the company Eneva announced its biggest acquisition, the purchase of Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe Participações (Celse) for a total amount of R$ 6,7 billion. The transaction guaranteed a 100% stake in the Porto de Sergipe thermoelectric plant and brought new directions to the company's gas hub in the National territory over the next few years.
Purchase of Celse was the largest acquisition in Eneva's history and will bring strong benefits to the national energy market
The company Eneva continues to fight for its expansion in the oil, natural gas and electricity markets and has just carried out a major transaction in the latter segment.
This is the purchase of Celse and its assets, for an amount of R$ 6,7 billion, the largest ever invested by the company in an acquisition in the domestic market.

The transaction took place with New Fortress Energy (NFE) and Ebrasil Energia and guaranteed Eneva a 100% stake in the Porto de Sergipe thermoelectric plant, one of the most important in the entire national scenario.
The plant is located on the coast of Sergipe and has a capacity of 1,6 GW, making it one of the largest operating gas plants in Latin America, a major asset for the company's energy market portfolio.
In addition, the thermoelectric plant is also an important project to guarantee the energy security of the entire northeastern region of the country, since its production meets 15% of the demand of the states in the area.
Another great benefit from the acquisition of Celse by Eneva is the guarantee that the plant will be regularized by the end of 2044, removing the company's legal concerns over the next few decades.
“The acquisition of Celse further reinforces Eneva's performance in the generation of natural gas energy in the Northeast region, which depends on this source to ensure the supply of electricity. With this movement, we will have access to other sources of gas, such as imported LNG, and to the gas pipeline network that serves the region, and we will even be able to sell this gas”, commented Pedro Zinner, CEO of Eneva.
The company's transaction to acquire Celse guarantees new directions for the development of the company's gas energy hub in Brazil
In addition to being an important asset for Eneva's general portfolio, Celse and, mainly, the Porto de Sergipe thermoelectric plant, will guarantee the company great growth in the development of the gas energy hub in the country.
Still in the transaction of the plants, Eneva now holds the rights to expand the Sergipe Power Plant, with an additional pipeline of 3,2 GW of projects.
This is yet another attempt by the company in the search for its expansion in the national market, since, during the month of August, Eneva had already announced the closing of the acquisition of Termofortaleza, in Ceará, for R$ 531,6 million.
The last week was also of great importance for the growth plan, as the company won the 2nd Capacity Reserve Auction for the North Region and will have a stake in what will become the Azulão Complex.
In this way, the purchase of Celse becomes just one more of the company's investments in the search for leadership in the national energy market in the coming years.
