After meetings with the current president-elect and the future Minister of Defense, José Múcio, the military decided to advance the departure of the positions
After an agreement reached with the representatives of the new government, that of Lula, the three commanders of the Armed Forces no longer wanted to anticipate their departure from office and decided to wait for the inauguration of the president-elect, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva. The government transition is scheduled for 10:2 am, on January XNUMXnd, at Brasília Air Force Base, when the nominees for the new government will take over, according to CNN.
The rumor was that the commanders of the Armed Forces of the current government would leave their positions before the inauguration of the president-elect, later this month of December, in opposition to the elected government. On Friday, the 16th, however, the commander of the Air Force, Brigadier Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior, stated that he will pass command in January, as planned.
Freire Gomes, and from the Navy, Almir Garnier Santos, the other commanders of the Armed Forces of the Army, had already signaled that they would no longer anticipate the departure of their positions.

GOVERNMENT COMMANDERS CHARGE CURRENT PRESIDENT
Change of plans
This agreement was only possible thanks to active negotiation by the newly elected president. The new Minister of Defense, José Múcio and Lula, met with military personnel from the Armed Forces on Friday in a meeting to sign the beginning of the new government with the military forces.
Last week, the thermometer of the crisis diminished with the announcement of the name of Múcio and also with the decision that the new government would not break the tradition of appointing the most senior officers to assume the Forces.
