After making an investment of R$ 400 million, Alumar has several job openings in São Luís, Maranhão, for the resumption of aluminum smelting operations

In September of this year, the Government of Maranhão, through the Secretariat for Industry, Commerce and Energy (Seinc), announced investments in the order of R$ 400 million for the return of aluminum production at the Maranhão Aluminum Consortium (Alumar ), after approval of the tax incentive. Currently, Alumar continues to publish new job openings in São Luís (MA). The job opportunities make up the reactivation plan for the aluminum foundry operations and join the more than 500 job vacancies already announced by the company.

The refinery's production capacity, which had been suspended since 2015, is 268 thousand tons of aluminum per year. The delivery of the first aluminum ingot is scheduled for the end of the first half of 2022 and the unit's full capacity for the end of the same year.

So that the social evolution of São Luís and all of Maranhão was guaranteed, the investment will have 2.250 job openings in its technical team, with the generation of over 750 direct jobs and over 1.500 indirect jobs for São Luís. To assume the positions, priority will be given to employees who were dismissed in the last decade, starting in 2013.
