Gasoline price closes the first half of July at R$ 6,13. Ethanol also plummets and closes the period with an average of R$4,28.
After reckless increases in fuel prices practiced by Petrobras, the average price of a liter of gasoline sold at filling stations in Brazil ended the first half of July at R$6,79, 10,22% cheaper compared to the end of June. Also falling, the price of ethanol fell 6,33% compared to the previous month, and closed the period at R$ 5,62, according to data from the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL).
“After the reduction of the ICMS rate, there was a significant decrease in the price of these fuels, compared to last month. Not only did we see a reduction in the national average, but also at gas stations in all Brazilian regions, such as the Federal District, where gasoline was 19,68% cheaper for drivers; and in Rio de Janeiro, where the drop reached 13,39% for ethanol, according to the IPTL”, highlights Douglas Pina, General Director of Mainstream of the Fleet and Mobility Division of Edenred Brasil.
São Paulo remains in the leadership of the cheapest gasoline in Brazil
In the regional cut, gasoline with the lowest value was found at R$ 6,30 at the filling stations in the South, with a 12,38% drop in price. The highest average was registered in the Northeast, with the value of R$ 7,10 and a decrease of 7,92% in the price.

The Northeast also had the highest average for ethanol. The price of fuel ended the period at R$ 6,00 at stations in the Northeast, down 3,54%. The cheapest ethanol was recorded in the Midwest, at R$ 4,85, with a reduction of 10,68%, the most expressive among the other regions.
In the highlights by State, São Paulo continues to lead the cheapest gasoline in the country, sold at R$ 6,13, with a reduction of 12,34%. The highest average for this fuel was recorded in Piauí, at R$ 7,41, even though it was 8,17% cheaper.
Ethanol with the lowest average value in all of Brazil reaches R$ 4,28 at the pumps
Ethanol with the lowest average price in all of Brazil was also found at gas stations in São Paulo, at R$4,28 and a reduction of 8,24% in price. Pará sold this fuel at the highest average price in the country, at R$6,65, down 2,28% from June. “At the end of the first fortnight, among all states, ethanol was the most advantageous option for fueling only drivers in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Goiás”, concludes Pina.
