ANEEL plans to hold a renewable energy auction in June and the estimate is that private investments will reach R$ 11,1 billion in solar energy
The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) plans to hold a renewable energy auction that has more than 3,5 km of transmission lines in Minas Gerais alone, in June. The initiative will take place to connect the large solar power plants to the SIN. At first, the value of the planned investments was R$ 7,5 billion, however, due to projections of expansion of solar energy generation in the region, the value of private investments could reach R$ 11,1 billion just in the mining lot .

In addition to the ANEEL renewable energy auction, the government also encourages the use of renewable sources
Cemig is also planning to expand the number of substations in the region, as part of the investment plan announced last year to connect micro and mini solar power plants to its network, worth R$22,5 billion.
Furthermore, the state government and city halls are also working on new projects to attract more works involving the renewable energy market, mainly solar sources. In November last year, Minas Gerais reached a historic power of 2GW in solar energy operations in the generating regions, adding distributed and centralized generation.

According to Aneel, during the instruction phase of the bidding process for the first renewable energy auction this year, an opportunity was noted to advance some transmission works that would take place later.
Works in MG may make the ANEEL auction exceed R$ 13 billion
In the ANEEL auction lots, in addition to 4.810 km of transmission lines, more than 6 MVA of power will be awarded in several states. The initial investment estimate was R$ 8 billion, however with the arrival of new works in MG, the value could exceed R$ 13 billion.
The largest number of works in the ANEEL renewable energy auction will cover the expansion of transmission capacity in the northern region of the state, where the initial forecast is 3.543 km of transmission lines and 3.750 MVA in transformation capacity at substations.
According to Pedro Sena, Director of Energy at the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Headquarters), the Government of Minas Gerais, alongside the Union, carried out an articulation for the sensitivity linked to the need to grant this transmission infrastructure. The secretary is optimistic about the expansion of solar energy generation in the state.
State of MG may gain 200 new substations
Regarding the mini and micro solar energy plants linked to CEMIG, the state-owned company informed that it is studying improvements within its investment plan until 2027, which is of R$ 22,5 billion, through the program launched in the second half of last year, More Energy, which foresees investments worth R$ 5 billion, which will focus on 200 new substations throughout the State. Of this total, around 15 will be located in the North of Minas Gerais and will enable faster connection of mini and micro solar power plants to the grid.
