During the meeting, Alerj announced that it will seek a closer relationship with Petrobras and the IBP, this semester, to guarantee the attraction of contributions in the oil and gas sector

Last Wednesday (07/07), during a meeting of the Rio de Janeiro Parliament, it was announced that the Alerj (Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro) will seek closer ties with the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP) and Petrobras , this semester, to guarantee the attraction of investments in the oil and gas sector for the state of Rio de Janeiro. Alerj seeks new investments for the oil and gas sector in Rio de Janeiro

Deputy Andrรฉ Ceciliano said that Alerj needs to make every effort to be closer to the IBP and Petrobras. According to him, it is time to sit down at the table and look for investments for the state of Rio de Janeiro and it has to take advantage, for example, of the potential of the Metropolitan East and Baixada Fluminense in the use of oil and natural gas in industrialization.

Andrรฉ also points out that a company has already requested authorization to create a processing unit along the Metropolitan Arch, and it is important to make this industry viable in Rio de Janeiro, so that the gas does not leave the state's hands without taking advantage of the resources.

At the Alerj meeting, it was also highlighted that the state of Rio de Janeiro accounts for 80% of the oil extracted in the country, but only 20% of the suppliers of this production chain are located in the state. More than 50% of the natural gas produced in Rio is reinjected into the system, therefore, without the right to royalties and special participation in these operations.

Growth forecast for the coming years

Although the world is seeking the transition to a clean matrix, oil, gas and coal still account for 84% of primary energy used. Currently, the state of Rio de Janeiro produces 3,8 million oil per day and will, in 2030, produce 4,5 million. This growth should generate pressure for port facilities. Engineer Magda Chambriard, a member of Alerj's Tax Office, estimates that 25 platforms and 80 support vessels will be needed to support this increase.

โ€œWhen we talk about oil in Brazil, we see that 80% is produced in the state of Rio and 94% by Petrobras. This duo has to be married as if they were Cosme and Damiรฃo, inseparably, for the next decades. Therefore, we need a structured project for the oil sector in Rio, with a clear management model. Only in this way will Rio really be able to be called the Brazilian oil capitalโ€, stressed the member of the Alerj Tax Advisory, engineer Magda Chambriard.

During a public hearing of the Shipbuilding Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj), Sinaval (National Shipbuilding Industry Union) presented suggestions for the Brazilian shipbuilding sector to grow again. The union proposed the following parameters: elaboration of a State policy for the sector; resumption of local content with an index greater than 25% โ€“ with an intermediate proposal of at least 40%; in addition to better interest rates and terms.

The president of the Commission, deputy Cรฉlia Jordรฃo (Patriota), highlighted during the Alerj hearing that the works of shipbuilding Petrobras, for the most part, has been sent to Korean and Chinese shipyards, and a very small portion of the construction remains for Brazil, which has generated a large number of unemployed people.
