The event held last week to discuss the future of the industrial market, ABM Week, featured a panel that discussed the importance of using aluminum as a way to bring more sustainability to civil construction and the automobile industry.
The Brazilian industrial sector continues to seek even more sustainability, after the ABM Week, held on the last 09/06, in the state of São Paulo. The event discussed more sustainable practices in the segment and how aluminum can contribute to this journey in sectors civil construction and the automobile industry, bringing more efficiency in production and less environmental impact in the long term.
ABM Week panel discusses the relevance of aluminum in the search for more sustainability in civil construction and in the automotive industry in the domestic market
The panel Aluminum and sustainability as market drivers was one of the main highlights of ABM Week, held last week in the state of São Paulo to discuss the most diverse subjects in the Brazilian industrial sector.
In this way, several specialists in the segment highlighted how important aluminum can be in the search for more sustainability in civil construction and in the automobile industry with the correct use of the raw material in industrial production.
- Why do farmers fill tractor TIRES with WATER?
- Scientists develop bendable concrete with 11,9% more flexibility for 3D printing
- Highway project ignored for 50 years rises from the ashes promising to radically transform the region with many jobs, tourism and a strong economy; environmental risks, however, terrify experts
- Toyota promises to change the game with the Japanese company's new 2.0 turbo engine that will have three power outputs: 300, 400 and even 600 hp
Among them was Magda Reis, consultant for Abal (Brazilian Aluminum Association), who moderated the panel on civil construction and commented on the main influences of the raw material in the segment.
In addition, the lectures began with a presentation by the GBC (Green Building Council Brasil) project and certification manager, Maíra Macedo, who highlighted the role of aluminum in increasing energy efficiency. Maíra highlighted that aluminum ensures not only more sustainability to the facades, but also more sealing, in addition to reducing thermal transmittance in buildings.
Also present was civil construction specialist Paulo Gentile, Hydro’s product development coordinator, who commented on the structures that use aluminum in buildings, such as windows and doors, noting: “I just visited Argentina in early May, and orders for this material will only arrive in March, there is a lot of demand for this solution.” Finally, the civil construction and sustainability panel featured Lucínio Abrantes and Lúcio Abrantes, who brought their experience in manufacturing with Luxalum cases and the main uses of the raw material in their works.
The use of aluminum as a way to bring more sustainability to the automotive industry was also highlighted during the ABM Week meeting
In addition to the lectures on civil construction and the use of aluminum in the segment, there was also a moment of discussion about sustainability in the automobile industry with the use of this resource.
Thus, the panel was moderated by IPT materials engineer, Ana Paola Villalva Braga and the first speaker was Carolina Hattori, market and innovation from CBA. She commented on the use of aluminum in various car structures, such as pedestrian protection, luggage racks, tunnel brace.
Expert Oliver Toríbio, a metallurgist engineer at Novelis, took advantage of ABM Week to highlight the importance of more investments in the use of the resource in the national automobile industry and noted that, while in Brazil the average aluminum per car is 60 kg, in the USA it is 180 kg.
Thus, he also said that the energy efficiency and sustainability that US cars have over those in Brazil are significantly influenced by the use of metal.
Finally, Guilherme Fernandes, engineering manager at Stellantis, commented on the future use of aluminum in the Brazilian automobile industry and highlighted that the big bet is to expand the use of aluminum in other parts of the car, such as the bodywork.
