The project, developed by Omega, will be the construction of a new plant for the production of solar energy and will have 4,6 GW of installed power

Next Thursday, the 10th, the Coema (State Council for the Environment) will approve and grant the environmental licensing of the WORLD'S LARGEST photovoltaic solar energy generation PROJECT, which will be the construction of a new solar power plant.

The new solar plant, which will be built in a rural location in the municipalities of Aracati and Icapuí, on the East Coast of Ceará, will have an installed capacity of 4,6 GW.

The solar energy plant will occupy an area of 7,8 hectares of the former Copam farm, belonging to Grupo J, Macedo, which leased the land to Omega, which is one of the largest Brazilian companies in the renewable energy sector.

Giant numbers!

To get an idea of how big the new power plant will be solar energy, even the numbers are gigantic: the power generation of the 4,6 GW will be guaranteed by a set of 8 million photovoltaic panels, whose suppliers have not yet been revealed.

In addition, the responsible company itself, Omega, has a solar plant project in operation in Quixeré, with 10 photovoltaic panels, generating solar energy for the consumption of McDonald's stores in Fortaleza.

The Ceará government source who reported the information did not know how to inform the value of the investment that Omega will make in this giant project to generate solar energy.

the latest details

The Coema meeting, to settle the last negotiations for the enterprise, will be held from 14:10 on the XNUMXth, in the auditorium of the State Superintendence of the Environment (Semace).

The company declared: “We have become the largest Brazilian generation company from renewable sources and today we produce energy capable of supplying 3 million and 800 thousand homes. Our mission is to empower companies and people through clean, cheap and simple energy, ensuring cost reduction and contributing to a low carbon economy. We will not rest until renewable energy is a reality for everyone.”
