Visit to Angra had a delegation involving two ministers, Mines and Energy and head of the Secretary General of the Presidency and highlighted its importance for the current government
The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, fulfilled his promise during a meeting with the mayor of Angra dos Reis, Fernando Jordão in June. At the time, the Government announced measures that would resume Naval Construction and the nuclear industry in Angra dos Reis.
The promise was that the minister would come to Angra to visit the nuclear power plants and thus make it clear to investors and the population that the plan really is to resume and finish the work on the Angra 3 plant, paralyzed since 2015.
Well, the Angra Nuclear Power Station received yesterday (07/10) a government delegation, which visited the Angra 3 construction site and the shed where its equipment is kept.

The delegation was composed, in addition to Bento Albuquerque, by the chief minister of the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Jorge Antônio Oliveira, and by the directors of the National Electric System Operator (ONS), of the Energy Research Company (EPE) and of the National Electric Energy (Aneel).
The Minister of Mines and Energy declared during the visit that: “The visit was very enlightening. My goal now is to organize a new meeting, this time with the authorities of the economic area, so that they can echo the importance of this important undertaking”.
The host of the meeting, the president of Eletronuclear, Leonam Guimarães, spoke about the importance of the visit, “It is an unprecedented visit with the presence of two Ministers of State and the summit of the electricity sector. It is a clear demonstration of the importance that is now given to nuclear power generation”.
Work on the Angra 3 Nuclear Power Plant was paralyzed in 2015, shortly after the corruption scandals denounced by the car wash operation, which culminated in the arrest of the president of Eletronuclear at the time, Othon Pinheiro, who is also a nuclear physicist.
The government promised for this year to launch the public notice to define the partner in the resumption of works and put it into operation by 2026.
