A new IBGE public tender is coming up and promises to open thousands of vacancies for mid-level candidates. The IBGE contest promises opportunities in almost all of Brazil.
The new public tender Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) for permanent staff should be authorized later this year. The confirmation was made last Wednesday, June 28, by the economic adviser of the Ministry of Planning, Joao Villaverde, during an event that released last year's Demographic Census data. The demand for new effective hires for the IBGE contest had already been announced, on May 29, by the president of the IBGE, Cimar Azeredo.
What medium and higher level positions does the IBGE contest intend to open?
In total, 3.044 opportunities are being requested, 1.848 of which are for those who have high school and 1.196 for those looking for higher-level opportunities. In the case of mid-level vacancies of the public tender, all the opportunities requested were for the position of technician in geographic information and statistics, with a starting salary of R$ 3.677.27.
This professional is responsible for collecting data from various sources, organizing, planning, criticizing, correcting, processing, releasing and maintaining the data, ensuring its integrity, confidentiality, updating, availability and reliability. It also conducts interviews in households and informing establishments to obtain data in accordance with the methodology and survey supervision plan, carries out topographic, cartographic and geographic surveys with a view to keeping the territorial base of the municipalities up to date.

For higher level candidates, the breakdown is as follows:
- Analyst in planning, management and infrastructure in geographic information and statistics (588 vacancies);
- Technologist in geographic information and statistics – 597 vacancies;
- Researcher in geographic information and statistics – 11 vacancies.
In the case of analysts, the starting salary is BRL 8.488,47 and for researchers, BRL 9.389,06. For the position of technologist, the salary is yet to be confirmed.
Details of the last IBGE public tender
According to the Planning economic adviser, the new IBGE contest has the full support of Minister Simone Tebet. It is a pertinent request and the ministry has accepted this request. However, it is negotiated with the Ministry of Management, which has already signaled, several times, that it has complied, and, from what is understood, is in a matter of final stretch, in order to define how many posts in each request.
The IBGE already has a request forwarded to the Ministry of Management and Innovation of Public Services and, according to Minister Esther Dweck, the endorsement must be approved in a second wave of authorizations for federal tenders.
O last IBGE contest for staff took place in 2015, when two notices were published, with a total of 600 positions. At the time, the organizing bank was the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). An announcement made available 460 vacancies for the career of technician distributed among several states. The other had 90 vacancies for analysts and 50 for technologies, also with capacity in several states.
Government announces thousands of new public tenders
The federal government announced last week the authorization to new public tenders.
