The Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM) announced the arrival of its new Shanhai Poer pickup, which could soon be manufactured in Brazil.
A new Chinese pickup truck has emerged and its destination could be Brazil. A assembler GWM presented, at the Chengdu Fair, the Shanhai Poer pickup, which has the technology promised for production at the factory in Iracemápolis (SP), as it is a hybrid. The new Great Wall Motors vehicle is derived from the Tank 500 SUV and uses the same 3.0V light hybrid 6 V48 engine, with 354 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The transmission is a 9-speed automatic.

The power of the new GWM vehicle is enough to compete with the medium pickup trucks in Brazil. There are also versions with a full hybrid 2.4 turbo diesel engine and a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine, with no power figures revealed.
The model's suspension is independent at the front and has a rigid axle at the rear. The development is a body-over-chassis type, similar to vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S10 and Ram Classic. The Chinese pickup has a beautiful design and a powerful grille, which makes a strong visual impact. The model is more luxurious compared to other Great Wall Motors models.

In its cabin, the Shanhai Poer has genuine leather seats, heated and ventilated, a 12,3-inch (31,24 cm) instrument panel and a 14,6-inch (37,08 cm) multimedia display. There's also a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and parking assistant. GWM's Chinese pickup truck also features piano-key controls and a wood-look finish.
One of the novelties of the new vehicle is its 4×4 traction, which has an electromagnetic clutch coupling system on the front axle. There is also 4×4 Low and rear and front differential lock. The price of the new Chinese pickup has not yet been announced.
Great Wall Motors plans to install manufacturing of new category of SUVs in the country
Great Wall Motors is currently one of the largest manufacturers of light vehicles in China and announced this year that, soon, new hybrid SUVs, capable of doing 208 km / l, will arrive in the country. GWM will invest around BRL 10 billion in Brazil to produce electric and hybrid SUVs and pickups directly at its unit in Iracemápolis, in São Paulo.
The production of the new vehicles should start next year and the company announced that the investment will be divided into two investment cycles in the local operation, with R$ 4 billion from 2022 to 2025 and, from 2026 onwards, more than R$ 6 billion. GWM expects the initiative to generate around 2 direct jobs by 2025.
Chinese company plans to install 100 charging points for electric cars
Great Wall Motors plans to install 100 charging points for electric cars of any model in municipalities in the state of São Paulo.
The announcement was made this year by João Dória and the initiative comprises investments of R$ 10 billion that Great Wall Motors makes in the manufacture of electric vehicles in its plant in the interior of SP.
The company's charging network will be powered by solar panels installed in the state, while a second stage will feature charging points in cities in other states, according to the governor. According to the announcement, the initiative also plans to create a network of partners, suppliers and startups.
