Atlantic Energias Renováveis wins 218,5 MW in Energy Auction A-6 and invests more than R$ 1 billion in wind energy in Piauí and Bahia
The company will implement new ventures in the municipalities of Tanque Novo and Caetité, in Bahia and will expand the generation potential of the Lagoa do Barro Wind Complex, in operation in Piauí, the ventures will cost the company an investment of more than 1 billion reais . In addition to Atlantic's investments, the state of Bahia will win two more wind farms with investments of 2 billion reais from a Norwegian company.
Atlantic Energias Renováveis’ participation in the wind energy generation sector in 2019 will become even stronger. The company has just won 218,5 megawatts (MW) of power in the A-6 Energy Auction, held last Friday, the 18th, by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). Of the power purchased at the auction, the company sold 218,5 MW.

The result of the event consolidates Atlantic in the renewables market as a company with a high degree of development, with competitive rates and which follows the growth of wind energy in Brazil.
According to Company Energy Research (EPE), the A-6 Auction registered 1.541 registered projects, which include hydroelectric, solar, wind and thermal sources. The supply of energy contracted in the auction is expected to take place from January 2025.
The company's goal is to provide competitive projects that generate benefits both for the country and for the region in which its projects are located.
“We competed in the A-6 auction with large generators and were victorious, which gives us more motivation to continue our work and the opportunity to position ourselves even better in the wind energy market”, reveals José Roberto de Moraes, CEO of Atlantic.
In recent years, Atlantic has been dedicated to delivering large projects that generate energy from wind. The expansion of its asset portfolio comes at an excellent time for the company, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Rio Grande do Norte also receives wind projects
Copel will invest approximately R$ 400 million in the construction of the Jandaíra Wind Complex, in Rio Grande do Norte. The complex will have an installed capacity of 90 MW and works should begin next year.
