New solutions expand electric vehicle systems for medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
BAE Systems, a leader in electric propulsion, and Eaton, a global energy management company, are expanding their collaboration to provide electric vehicle solutions (EV) for heavy trucks. The initiative offers original equipment manufacturers and commercial vehicle modifiers a system EV comprehensive, efficient and flexible, adapted to a wide range of zero-emission platforms.
Expanding collaboration
In 2023, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to provide electric drive technology solutions for the medium-duty truck market. Now, the collaboration expands to include heavy-duty applications, offering manufacturers a complete line of electric drive systems for commercial trucks over 19 tons.

BAE Systems will integrate its electric motor and advanced power electronics suite with the transmission EV Eaton 4-speed HD to provide a system EV complete for heavy duty. Combined with the existing MD-4 solution, these systems are designed for medium- and heavy-duty applications such as pickup and delivery trucks, school and transit buses, and materials handling, trash, and commuter trucks.

The solution from BAE Systems and Eaton brings proven technology into an integrated package that meets the demands of the commercial truck market, the result of decades of collective experience in vehicle electrification. BAE Systems power electronics utilize advanced materials and a compact, modular design that reduces the number of parts, making it highly reliable and adaptable to a variety of platforms. MD and HD broadcasts EV from Eaton were developed specifically to increase the range and acceleration of commercial electric vehicles.
