Investments in wind energy in the Northeast do not stop and this time it was Bahia that announced contributions of one billion reais

After Piauí announced the construction of the largest wind farm in South America, now it was Bahia's turn to announce investments of R$ 1,9 billion in a wind farm.
Responsible for the project will be Neoenergia, which made the announcement last Thursday (19/09). The wind complex will be built with three more energy distributors, which will also build the park in Piauí.

The enterprise

The Oitis Wind Complex will be built by Força Eólica do Brasil and will consist of 12 Wind Farms, of which
two of these parks (Oitis 1 and Oitis 8) already had 30% of their energy sold in the 4 “A-2019” Generation Auction, held in June.
The other 10 parks will sell their energy on the free market, with an average capacity factor of 50% and the forecast for the start of commercial operation of the parks will be in the middle of 2022.

The complex in Bahia will have a capacity of 566,5 megawatts and will surpass the current installed capacity of a wind source in operation, which is 516 MW.

The project is fully in line with Neoenergia's investment policy, and with its strategy to position itself in the liberalization of the Brazilian energy market.

Neoenergia controls Coelba and, after the construction of the plants in Bahia and Piauí, will have a portfolio of wind power assets in operation of 1,6 GW.

The company is the largest private group in the Brazilian electricity sector in terms of number of customers, with more than 13,5 million consumer units served by its distributors Elektro, Coelba, Celpe and Cosern.
