Bamin is currently seeking to reach the maximum production and export capacity at the mine in Bahia, of 18 million tons of iron ore per year in 2026, and will have the support of SNC-Lavalin for this.

In this way, Bamin intends to carry out a series of new constructions at the Pedra de Ferro mine, aiming to reach the target by the end of the forecast period. Among them is the production of stretch 1 of the Oeste Leste Integration Railroad — Fiol and Porto Sul, in Ilhéus, which has total planned investments of around R$ 3,3 billion.
Cesar Inostroza, CEO of Mining and Metallurgy at SNC-Lavalin, commented on the services the company will offer to the works and said that the integrated approach from mine to port is present at all levels of the mining industry, including greenfield and brownfield. The executive also highlighted that SNC-Lavalin will work to deliver all projects proposed to Bamin safely and masterfully over the next few years.

The Pedra de Ferro Project involves the integration of iron mining operations in the state of Bahia, extracting and processing two abundant resources in the region, hematite and itabirite, in addition to transporting them for sale by rail and sea.
Thus, among SNC Lavalin's competencies in Bamin's work plan at the Bahian mine, the main activities will be: an open pit mine, a hematite processing plant, an itabirite processing plant, a product storage yard, a cargo loading station and a rail loop that will provide access to the East-West Integration Railroad (FIOL).
