The Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) announced the opening of registrations for the Extension course in Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education, which will be carried out 100% remotely and offered free of charge through the Open University of Brazil Program (UAB).

The course provides 3.253 vacancies, lasts 120 hours and seeks to train teachers and basic education professionals to promote inclusive pedagogical practices and meet the individual and collective needs of students.

Inside UFMA's inclusive education course

The course, officially called Advanced Course in Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education, will be divided into four modules.

In addition to the classes, participants must prepare a final project, totaling 120 hours of work.

The main objective is to train teachers to inclusively serve students with different educational needs in regular classrooms.

This includes training directors, coordinators and pedagogical advisors who can apply public inclusion policies in a practical and efficient way.

According to notice nº 25/2024/FUMA/OEAUX/STED/UFMA, the course will be based on the Collaborative Virtual Learning Environment (AVACAPES), which will offer study materials and interactive tools.

Who can participate?

The course is aimed primarily at professionals in the basic education who already work in public and private schools, but also accepts directors, pedagogical coordinators and other interested parties who meet the criteria of the notice.

As 3.253 vacancies will be filled in order of registration, without a selection process. If the vacancies are filled quickly, the excess candidates will form a waiting list.

Tiebreaker criteria: In cases of simultaneous registration, priority will be given to the oldest candidate, as established by Law No. 10.741 of 2003.

Impacts on inclusive education

The UFMA initiative promises not only to train professionals, but also to transform the Brazilian school environment.

Registration will be open from December 5, 2024 to January 3, 2025. Interested parties should access the program's official website (http://seletivos.dted.ufma.br/) to fill out the form.

Attention to the details: To ensure approval, it is necessary to fill in all fields correctly and meet the requirements described in the notice. Applications with incomplete or incorrect information will be automatically rejected.
