With R$ 6 billion in investments, Petrocity Energia's thermal plant project, which is advancing in Espírito Santo, could generate three thousand jobs

Petrocity Energia, a private capital company, has a project for a thermal power plant, with a capacity of 1,8 GW, in the municipality of São Mateus, State of Espírito Santo. The venture should create 3 jobs and will receive an investment of 6 billion reais. With the numbers, the project will have a positive impact on the state's economy.

Also read other news of the day:

Ronaldo Badin, president of Petrocity Energia, said that “The presence of the plant will bring energy security to the entire region, along with transport modes, development and labor. The thermal plant is a development anchor for the entire region”, when talking about the importance of the project.

The company's president also added that the technical projects for the thermoelectric plant are already very advanced and he is waiting for the plant's prior approval at the beginning of next year, which will allow it to participate in energy auctions. The interviewee also commented on research on supplying natural gas to factories and hiring local labor.

Technical part of the project:

“On the technical aspect, we are developing the project, which is at a very advanced stage. We are receiving technical support from Mitsubishi Power, as we are talking about a large power plant. Our thermoelectric plant is modeled in three 600 MW modules, totaling 1,8 GW of power. To give you an idea, this represents all consumption in the state of Espírito Santo and there is still something left. The plant's energy will be negotiated in an auction and 100% sold to the National Integrated System (SIN). The expected gas consumption for this project is 7 million cubic meters per day. By way of comparison, the entire state of Espírito Santo consumes just over 2 million cubic meters per day.”

Licensing and start of works:

“We should have the Preliminary License at the beginning of the year. From then on, we intend to participate in the next auctions that will take place next year. And then, participating in this auction and being the winner, we will start the work a year later.”

Investment and economic development:

“It is an investment of BRL 6 billion. You can imagine the economic unfolding of the region. This thermal in the north of Espírito Santo will be imperative for the development of the region. The presence of the plant will bring energy security, along with transport modes, development and generate many jobs. Thermal is a development anchor for the entire region."
