The Rota 4 project is in the licensing phase and the expectation is that the gas pipeline will start operating between 2027 and 2028. It will take approximately four years to build the structures.

Focusing on gas supply in the Southeast Region, where the sector's largest market in the country is concentrated, Compass Gás e Energia wants a minority stake in the project.

Route 4 is divided into two parts: one called Route 4, which connects offshore pre-salt production to Praia Grande, with a 275 km long gas pipeline (four times the Santos-São Paulo distance).

The other part is Route 4B, a gas pipeline 313 km long, 294 km at sea and 19 km on land, connecting the pre-salt 43 production hub to the Santos Basin to Madeira Island, at the Port of Itaguaí , in Rio de Janeiro.

With the capacity to transport 21 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, Route 4 will increase the transport and production capacity of gas in the pre-salt fields.

Despite the Group not talking about jobs, but, according to the consultant in strategic planning and professor in the area of research, mineral exploration and oil and natural gas, Juarez Fontana dos Santos, the segment can become a chance to generate jobs and income to Baixada Santista if it is well used.

The Tribuna showed that, in the view of Ricardo Cantarani, responsible for the oil, gas and biofuels area at the São Paulo Secretariat for Infrastructure and Environment, it is essential that the private sector act in the Campos Basin region. For Professor Juarez Fontana, Petrobras' participation should be a minority in the coming years
