Petrobras, in the past, was more than robbed, it was even used to deliver our subsoil”, said President Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) this Thursday, July 25, in Manaus.
President Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) on his first visit to Manaus defended, this Thursday, July 25, mineral exploration in the Amazon. He used as an example the extraction of potassium at the mouth of the Madeira River. “Nobody has what we have, underground. Here at the mouth of the Madeira River, we have a very rich area for potassium”, declared the president.
Jair Bolsonaro's statement was given during the opening of the first meeting of the year, of the Board of Directors of Suframa (CAS), at the body's headquarters in the Industrial District.

On the occasion, he was also in favor of partnerships with foreign companies that want to explore the mineral in the region. “I have been telling the world that any country that by chance wants to partner with us to explore our biodiversity, we are ready to talk to these countries. I have said and the same thing in mineral exploration. We can't just live on commodities. I speak of partnership, I want to add value to what we have”, he said, in addition to highlighting the interest in legalizing mining in Brazil.
The president also recalled that Petrobras lost, in 2008, the right to explore exclusively potassium in the region by a Canadian company. “Then other things happened, we managed to recover that up front. Brazil was even sold that way, the exclusivity of exploring our subsoil by foreign companies in secret documents”.
The president also said that when he was a deputy he could not divulge the contents of secret documents that prove the right to exploit the mineral. When I was a deputy, I couldn't speak because the information I obtained was confidential as president, as now I own this seal I can speak”, ironized the president, who was applauded.
Still in the environmental area, Bolsonaro said he was sure that the BR-319 will be paved and released to connect the Amazon to the rest of Brazil. “We could yes, more than dream. We are sure that our BR-319 will be paved, even though we have an economically destroyed Brazil, a budget that is more than diminished”.
