The battery sector could generate more than US$12,5 billion annually, expanding clean energy sources
Brazil is on the threshold of an energy revolution, with the energy storage market expected to grow 12,8% per year until 2040. This expansion could result in up to 7,2 GW of installed capacity, according to a study by consultancy Clean Energy Latin America (CELA). This growth is a response to the potential application of batteries in a variety of contexts, from grid infrastructures to off-grid installations in rural and urban environments. The forecast is that the sector will generate more than US$ 12,5 billion annually, considering the current regulatory scenario.
The adoption of batteries, especially in grid services and autonomous systems, is seen as a catalyst for the energy transition in Brazil, promoting the use of renewable and sustainable energy.
The cutting edge of Photovoltaic systems
Francis Polo, CEO of a business consortium specializing in photovoltaic systems, points to the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy sources as a driver for innovation in the sector. Solar energy solutions, particularly systems 100% off-grid and hybrids, are at the heart of this transformation, offering energy independence and reduced carbon emissions.

Autonomy with Off-Grid systems
Off-grid photovoltaic systems guarantee energy autonomy, operating independently of the conventional electrical grid. This solution is ideal for remote areas, where connection to the electricity grid is non-existent or unfeasible. “Off-grid systems not only provide energy independence but also represent a sustainable and efficient solution, capable of significantly improving the quality of life in isolated communities”, explains Polo.
Potential of hybrid systems
Hybrid systems, in turn, combine solar energy generation with connection to the electrical grid, allowing a smooth transition between energy sources according to demand and availability. This flexibility offers a series of benefits, including savings on electricity bills and contributions to the stability of the national electrical system. “The storage capacity of batteries in hybrid systems enables the efficient use of solar energy, promoting more sustainable management of energy resources”, highlights Polo.
GrupoPolo: innovation and sustainability
Since its founding in 2015, GrupoPolo has been a pioneer in electrical engineering and renewable energy solutions, notably for the construction of a public solar recycling station in Fernando de Noronha. With a comprehensive presence across the country and strategic partnerships with companies such as Weg and Renault, GrupoPolo is dedicated to promoting sustainability and electric mobility through innovative technologies and effective public policies.
The expansion of the energy storage market in Brazil is a promising sign that the country is on the right path to a energy transition cleaner and more sustainable. With the support of advanced technologies and the implementation of appropriate policies, Brazil can consolidate itself as a leader in renewable and sustainable energy in Latin America.
