Bracell Celulose plans to install a new factory, with a billion-dollar investment. The new unit will have the capacity to produce 2,8 million tons of cellulose per year, contributing significantly to the sector. The project promises to generate thousands of jobs, boosting the local economy and strengthening the cellulose industry in Brazil.
LOTS OF JOBS COMING: Bracell Celulose, one of the main companies in the sector, recently requested a feasibility study for the installation of a new cellulose factory in the municipality of Água Clara, located 193 km from Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. This project reinforces the position of Mato Grosso do Sul as one of the strategic hubs of the cellulose industry in Brazil. The announcement was made by state secretary Jaime Verruck, from the Secretariat of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Semadesc), in a post on social media last Friday (23).
The new factory, if completed, promises not only to consolidate Bracell's presence in the region, but also to boost local economic development, creating jobs and boosting the state's economy.
Bracell's new cellulose industry will have the capacity to produce 2,8 million tons

After negotiations with the State Government, studies will begin for a possible cellulose industry, which should generate several jobs. According to Jaime, this industry will be located around 15 km from the city and with a capacity of 2,8 million tons. To give you an idea, it is very similar to the one built in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo.
Mato Grosso do Sul is consolidating itself as a major cellulose valley, with yet another global company of international reference setting up shop in the State. With the signing of the Term of Reference by Bracell Celulose and the MS, the next steps are licensing to see the possibility of installing and activating the cellulose industry, with plans for next year in Água Clara. Mato Grosso do Sul is developing, generating jobs and becoming a global reference in the cellulose sector.
Bracell's cellulose industry will receive billion-dollar investments
The company's third pulp industry in the country, which will create new jobs, should be built 15 kilometers from the city center, with a production capacity of 2,8 million tons per year.
The investments in the Bracell Celulose project must exceed the $ 20 billion. The company had already been preparing its forestry base in the state and installed a nursery in Água Clara with capacity for 40 million eucalyptus seedlings per year.
It is worth highlighting that the company has two other raw material factories in Brazil, in the Camaçari Complex (BA), where it makes dissolving cellulose, and in Lençóis Paulista (SP), where it can produce both dissolving cellulose, used mainly in the production of viscose , as well as bleached eucalyptus cellulose.
As mentioned above, the announcement of the new cellulose industry, which should generate new jobs, was made on the 23rd, by the state's Secretary of Environment, Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Jaime Verruck, via social media. When contacted, Bracell confirmed that it requested a license for environmental studies to analyze the feasibility of installing a new factory in Água Clara (MS).
Other investments in the cellulose industry Brazilian
With an industrial complex in Três Lagoas (MS), Suzano, one of Bracell Celulose's rivals, has just opened a new cellulose factory in the State, in Ribas do Pardo. With a production capacity of 2,55 million tons per year, the Cerrado Project received investments of R$22,2 billion.
Still in Mato Grosso do Sul, the Arauco has already begun preparations for the construction of its first cellulose factory in the country, in the city of Innocência, with a total investment that could reach R$25 billion.
O Sucuriú Project it still depends on the final approval of the Chilean company's board of directors and should start operating in 2028. Eldorado, which also produces cellulose in the municipality of Três Lagoas, plans to more than double its capacity, through investments of R$25 billion.
