Resumption in the economy generates high consumption of diesel oil in 2022 and fuel sales promise to reach 62,6 billion liters!
Domestic consumption of diesel oil exceeds Petrobras production – which is not enough to meet domestic demand and, to ensure that the market continues to be supplied on an economic basis and with no risk of shortages, Brazil buys more than 30 tons of Russian diesel.
Imports of oil from Russia intermediated in July by the Brazilian Government are due to the recovery of the economy and the increase in Brazilian agricultural production in the 2021/2022 harvest. Furthermore, importing fuel from the Russians came as an alternative to the United States – a traditional supplier to Brazilians, but now facing competition from Europeans amid the impacts of the war in Ukraine.
Petrobras is expected to reach a historic mark in the sale of the product in the second half of 2022
Despite Brazil buying Russian diesel, as Bolsonaro reported, the country should reach a historic mark in the sale of the product in the second half of 2022, according to a survey by the Energy Research Company (EPE).
- No soy or sugarcane! Brazil's largest exported product is oil, to the delight of Petrobras and other companies in the sector.
- From pre-salt to the largest gas reserve: Petrobras discovers 6 trillion cubic feet of gas in Colombia and leads global energy revolution
- The impressive numbers from the 10 oil platforms with the HIGHEST production in October: More than 2 million barrels per day in the spotlight in the pre-salt!
- Brazil to auction 78 MILLION barrels of oil! China took the majority in the last auction
According to the projection, the sale of the product in 2022 will be 0,8% higher than last year and should reach 62,6 billion liters, compared to 62,1 billion in 2021.
For next year, the projection is even higher and reaches 63,5 billion liters, which would represent a new mark — an increase of 1,4% compared to this year. In a note, Petrobras confirmed the trend and stated that the domestic market should surpass last year's diesel oil consumption result.
35 million liters of Russian diesel arrived at the port of Santos in July
According to information from the Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida, at the end of September, a cargo of around 35 million liters of Russian diesel arrived at the port of Santos, coming from the Port of Saint Petersburg, in Russia.
According to the largest port terminal in the country, it is the vessel NS Pride, flying the Liberian flag; the minister also projected new loads arriving in this month of october.
According to reports from ANP, since August, with the beginning of the period of greater demand for diesel in Brazil, the Agency has granted 20 import licenses for a total of 61,8 thousand tons of fuel of Russian origin to two importers to avoid the risk of shortages and high prices in the country.
