With almost R$400 million invested, the Guaratuba Bridge is 35% complete. The project, which has been awaited for decades, will revolutionize logistics on the Paraná coast, replacing the ferry and boosting the local economy. Completion is scheduled for April 2026, bringing modernity and mobility to the region.

A grand project promises to transform the infrastructure and economy of the coast of Paraná.

A project that represents more than just a bridge, but an essential connection for residents, tourists and traders in the region.

However, the impact of this construction goes far beyond what one might imagine, bringing structural advances, job creation and a definitive solution for a historic crossing.

After all, what are the details of this project that has already reached 35% completion and is considered one of the most anticipated in the state? Find out everything below.

Progress of works and completion date

According to a data released this Friday (10) by the Paraná Highway Department (DER/PR), the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge reached 35,3% completion.

The milestone was confirmed after an inspection of the construction site carried out by the Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex, accompanied by engineers and the CEO of DER/PR, Fernando Furiatti.

According to the schedule, the expected delivery date is April 2026, with the expectation that the next summer season will be the last to depend on the ferry.

“We are ahead of schedule and committed to delivering this definitive solution,” highlighted Sandro Alex during the inspection.

The contract, which has a total investment of R$386,9 million, has already represented a financial contribution of R$136,6 million so far.

For Sandro Alex, the swift and on-time execution demonstrates the state government's commitment to modernizing infrastructure and improving the quality of life of the local population.

Structure details

With a length of 1.244 meters, the Guaratuba Bridge will have four traffic lanes, two safety lanes, rigid concrete barriers and sidewalks with cycle paths and guardrails.

This configuration meets modern safety and functionality standards, prioritizing both drivers and pedestrians and cyclists.

In addition, the work includes three additional kilometers of associated infrastructure, which includes improvements in access to the cities of Guaratuba and Matinhos.

According to DER/PR, 34 of the 64 planned piles have already been completed, in addition to the manufacture of 52 precast longitudinal beams, of which 15 have already been installed.

Economic and social benefits

The construction of the bridge is seen as a milestone not only for its logistical importance, but also for the social and economic impacts it will bring.

The work already generates empregos direct and indirect, boosting the local economy.

Furthermore, the elimination of the ferry will mean greater fluidity in traffic between cities, reducing queues and increasing efficiency in the transport of goods and passengers.

Fernando Furiatti, CEO of DER/PR, emphasized the importance of the work in the state context.

“This is an achievement for Paraná. Being on schedule, considering the logistical and environmental challenges, is a major milestone.”

Environmental concern and measures adopted

From the beginning, the project has integrated practices to minimize environmental impact.

On the Matinhos side, for example, controlled removals of vegetation and management of local fauna were carried out, in accordance with legal requirements.

On the Guaratuba side, techniques such as stapled soil have been used to ensure the containment of areas such as Morro de Caieiras.

According to DER/PR engineer Larissa Vieira, all stages follow strict safety and quality standards.

“The significant progress we have made so far reflects the commitment of the entire team and the efforts of the State Government in delivering this work so eagerly awaited by the population.”

Impacts on mobility

Currently, traffic in areas close to the construction site has been adjusted to facilitate the continuation of work and minimize inconvenience to residents and visitors.

In Guaratuba, Avenida Antônio dos Santos Miranda operates with two lanes in one direction.

In Matinhos, adjustments were made to Avenida Marechal Hermes, ensuring the fluidity of traffic during the execution of the work.

These temporary changes are part of an integrated plan to ensure that the impact on mobility is as minimal as possible while the bridge is being completed.

Conclusion and expectations

The Guaratuba Bridge is not just a work of engineering, but a symbol of progress and modernity for the coast of Paraná.

Scheduled for completion in April 2026, the expectation is that it will revolutionize regional logistics, boost tourism and bring a better quality of life to local populations.

With 35% of the schedule already completed, the promise of eliminating the ferry and offering a fast and safe crossing becomes increasingly real.

The population and traders eagerly await the completion of this transformative project.

I think it is the only virus that resists all forms of cure. And here in Brazil it is very “rooted”.
There is no law that can cure it!

The country's road sector is centuries behind! The construction of this bridge will make up for some of the lack of investment in the road infrastructure of the Paraná coast. I hope that other sectors that drive the region's economy will be affected by POLITICAL ATTITUDES LIKE THIS!
CONGRATULATIONS TO COASTAL RESIDENTS!
TO POLITICIANS, MAY THEY CONTINUE TO FULFILL THEIR OBLIGATIONS, – BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY WERE ELECTED FOR: TO WORK FOR AND FOR THE PEOPLE!
