Unprecedented Partnership: BBF Group and Tanzania Rural Energy Agency Collaborate to Promote Sustainable Practices
Last Thursday (22nd), a monumental meeting marked the headquarters of the BBF Group in São Paulo. Attended by a delegation of 18 executive members from the Tanzania Rural Energy Agency, a high-level meeting was established. After all, the meeting was a joint initiative of the Tanzanian Embassy in Brazil and the Beyond Africa Group.
The BBF Group, known for its integrated work in sustainable agribusiness, from palm cultivation to renewable energy generation, opened its doors to share its innovative business model.
Sustainable Practices and Promising Synergies
The event allowed for an effective exchange of ideas and the survey of potential synergies, given Tanzania's energy matrix, which is based on 83% of renewable sources, mainly biomass.

Tanzania, located in East Africa, has an installed generation capacity of 27GW, of which 23GW are from renewable sources. In addition, like Brazil, Tanzania is a producer of oil palm, also known as “dendê”. In 2020, Tanzania had around 650 hectares of palm plantations and produced around 350 tonnes of palm oil. Despite being the most consumed cooking oil in Tanzania, it is still not used for renewable energy generation.
Recognition and Progress in Renewable Energy
The Tanzanian delegation expressed its admiration for the work carried out by the BBF Group in the Amazon region, especially with regard to the recovery of degraded forest areas. One of the main characteristics pointed out was the generation of clean energy for more than 140 thousand inhabitants of the North region, served by the Isolated Systems, using biofuels produced from palm oil.
Executives plan to maintain active contact to leverage identified synergies and exchange best practices on the renewable energy agenda in a bilateral model. Thus, this partnership promises a greener and more sustainable future, expanding horizons for the production of renewable energy in the world.
