Partnership between BSBIOS and Norsul thinks about neutralizing carbon emissions for transporting renewable fuel
One of the largest plants in Brazil, BSBIOS, established a partnership with Norsul and its Carbon Neutral Program to promote a new form of sea transport of biodiesel, using cabotage. In this way, the fuel produced can be transported from Paraná to the Port of Suape, in Pernambuco, with zero greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide.
The maritime transport of the biofuel is an unprecedented feat, provided by Norsul, a major player in the field of logistics, and offers a 100% free way of transporting greenhouse gases. The first trip undertaken by the company lasted about 14 days on the ship Taruca, departing from the Port of Paranaguá and arriving at the Port of Suape. Learn more about this historic feat by reading today's article.

More than 4 million liters of biodiesel were transported to supply the Northeast region
O Services carried out between the ports of Paranaguá and Suape, with the displacement of 4 million liters of biodiesel, with the objective of supplying the Northeast region of Brazil. The fuel originated at the BSBIOS plant in Marialva, Paraná. The emission of greenhouse gases from this mode of transport was neutralized by the Norsul Carbon Neutral program.

"We are very happy to be able to collaborate by expanding BSBIOS' route in a sustainable way, exploring the full potential of our New Business area, developed precisely to bring new solutions to our customers, enabling them to go beyond"
Gustavo Paschoa, New Business Director at Norsul (2022)
To put this major logistical operation into practice on an unprecedented route, professionals worked tirelessly for 90 days, with extensive integration of teams from both companies. In this way, they managed to plan and put into practice a large cabotage operation, which would be, in their perspective, the best way to transport the fuel without causing so much environmental damage. Cabotage would be navigation between two ports in the same country, but without losing sight of the coast.
"Our work is based on monitoring and seeking solutions that can improve processes so that the environmental impacts caused by our operations are reduced. Choosing this mode with Norsul meets our strategic sustainability goals"
Leandro Luiz Zat, Commercial Director at BSBIOS (2022)
Norsul initiative aims to help preserve forests and neutralize greenhouse gas emissions
This initiative for a new fuel transportation modality aims to neutralize the emission of greenhouse gases, while encouraging the preservation of forests and the development of local communities, preserving carbon stocks. Norsul also has other initiatives such as the production of biomethane from landfills for use in transport in the future, without CO₂ emissions.
However, the maritime transport of biodiesel marks a new phase in the plants in Brazil, being an important step towards a sustainable form of supply.
“We are very happy and satisfied to develop a new four-hand market route. We arrived for the first time in this format with our biodiesel in the Northeast region, further expanding our operations and taking quality and excellent products that contribute to decarbonization"
Leandro Luiz Zat, Commercial Director at BSBIOS (2022)
The initiative is very positive and brings a new scenario in the fuel market in Brazil, expanding the routes of Norsul and BSBIOS. In addition, this feat encourages other companies in the field to seek alternatives, since concern for the environment is part of the environmental responsibility so dear to consumers.
