CBGD and EXPOGD 2024 shake up the distributed generation sector with debates and business focused on renewable energy and energy transition.
The 2024 edition of CBGD and EXPOGD surprised the industry Distributed generation, generating a significant impact on transactions and agreements. With a focus on innovations and clean energy, the event brought together experts and influencers to discuss the advancement of this energy model. Over the days, new partnerships and alliances were formed, expanding the possibilities within the area.
At the event, the importance of Distributed generation was highlighted through intense debates and panels. In a scenario where sustainable energy is becoming increasingly essential, the topics covered included both DG and distributed microgeneration. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the latest technologies and solutions that promise to transform the sector.
On October 30th and 31st, 2024, ExpoMinas, located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, was the chosen setting for the 9th Brazilian Congress on Distributed Generation (CBGD), consolidated as the main event dedicated to microgeneration and minigeneration with renewable energy sources in Latin America. This congress, held by the FRG Media & Events Group, attracted more than 5 participants, generating millions in business opportunities. Thus, it stood out as an essential platform for the debate and development of new technologies and solutions in the Distributed Generation sector.
Growth of Distributed Generation in Brazil
Carlos Evangelista, acting as president of the Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation (ABGD), highlighted that the Distributed Generation market is expanding rapidly in Brazil. Recently, the country reached the impressive mark of 33 GW of installed power, which is equivalent to two and a half Itaipus in terms of power from renewable energy sources. This number includes various energy sources, such as photovoltaic solar energy, biomass, biogas and green hydrogen, among others. Currently, there are more than three million Distributed Generation systems in operation in Brazil, reaching almost all municipalities and benefiting around 4,2 million consumer units. In addition, this sector has already received investments totaling R$140 billion and generated more than 850 thousand jobs. According to Evangelista, the CBGD represents a clear example of the sector's continuous growth.
- New technology converts carbon dioxide into methane fuel
- China plans to collect solar energy in space and send it back to Earth
- Green hydrogen gains momentum in São Paulo: State invests R$32 million in innovative center to lead the fight against emissions and boost clean energy
- Petrobras invests heavily in Brazil's sustainable future, with US$4,3 billion for solar and wind energy, part of an ambitious US$111 billion plan by 2029!
'At this event, we highlighted the presence of several players from different sectors. We are talking about installers, manufacturers, EPC contractors, consultancies and law firms, all involved, directly or indirectly, in the scope of GD and contributing significantly to the energy transition global', explains Evangelista.
Minas Gerais as a Protagonist in Distributed Generation
Minas Gerais stands out as one of the main responsible for the advancement of Distributed Generation in Brazil. With a comprehensive program, CBGD 2024 promoted relevant discussions on the vital role of renewable energies within the Brazilian energy matrix, highlighting the importance of these sources in fulfilling the country's commitments established in the Paris Agreement during COP21. The choice of Belo Horizonte to host the event was strategic. The city highlights Minas Gerais' potential to excel in the sector, especially in the generation of photovoltaic solar energy.
According to Gil Pereira, a congressman involved in promoting this source in the state, 20% of the photovoltaic solar energy in all of Brazil comes from Minas Gerais. This growth is largely driven by public policies that favor the sector, such as the exemption from ICMS. 'The solar revolution in Brazil began in Minas Gerais. […
Currently, all municipalities have solar installations, covering homes, businesses, industries and the agricultural sector, which require significant investments. In Janaúba, for example, there is the largest solar plant in Latin America, with a capacity of 1,3 GW', he says.
Innovations and Sustainable Future at the 9th EXPOGD
In parallel with the congress, the 9th EXPOGD 2024 (Brazilian Distributed Generation Fair) was attended by more than 100 exhibitors. These exhibitors presented the latest innovations in DG-related technologies, providing a clear view of the future prospects for the renewable energy sector. According to the organizers, the fair was an excellent opportunity for participants to get to know new equipment, products and solutions that drive DG up close. This also fostered the new business generation and the establishment of contact networks between companies and professionals.
Among the companies that participated as sponsors and exhibitors, the following stand out: PHB, Trina Solar, Huasun, PV Operation; in addition to Edeltec, Fortleve, Embrastec, Inoxpar, Sungrow, WEG, Brameta, Otus, Belmicro, MetalLightd and Sankós. The exhibitors were also present: Bao Ribeiro, CCM, Soollar Dist, Inovabras, Dynamo, FMGD, GM Estruturas, Fotovolt, Por Dentro de Minas, Grupo FRG and G7.
Finally, Tiago Fraga, CEO of Grupo FRG Mídias & Eventos, emphasized that the 9th CBGD reaffirmed its commitment to the advancement of renewable energy and sustainability in Brazil, especially by bringing together the main players in the sector and encouraging high-level discussions on the future of Distributed Generation. The event maintained its prestige as one of the most relevant meetings focused on sustainable energy in the country.
