The Government of the State of Ceará is looking to expand the green hydrogen hub located in Complexo do Pecém and intends to sign three new memorandums to new projects production of the resource soon with companies in the energy sector. Even with 19 agreements already signed for the development of green hydrogen production projects at the Complexo do Pecém hub, the Government of Ceará continues to expand its presence in the sector and intends to sign three new memorandums soon, in addition to seven others that are under negotiation. .
The data were disclosed at the Fiec Summit Hidrogênio Verde 2022, an event held by the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará (Fiec), which included specialists and companies from the energy segment focusing on this new resource.

The state governor, Izolda Cela, commented on the relevance of the Ceará region in the national green hydrogen business and its perspectives for the future of the sector. “Today we have 19 memorandums signed with large companies, they are business prospecting commitments, business implementation here, we have three (memorandums) to sign soon and seven in the negotiation stage. This shows the vigor of the State (in this segment) and I want to thank companies very much for their confidence in Ceará”, said the executive during the event.
In addition, Izolda recalled the importance of the green hydrogen hub installed in Complexo do Pecém during the government of Camilo Santana, which has been contributing to the attraction of new companies to the Ceará region.
The perspective of growth remains high with the arrival of new memorandums to be signed by the state government and, in addition to the documents, the region already has a prototype of a plant being built by EDP and a pre-contract signed with Fortescue, thus guaranteeing further acceleration of green hydrogen hub growth.

The rector of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Cândido Albuquerque, stressed that it is important to remember that the state of Ceará is currently ahead of all other Brazilian states in terms of green hydrogen projects. In addition, he stated that the UFC has been expanding laboratories and incentives for the development of research and projects aimed at improving the production of the resource.

Finally, the president of Fiec, Ricardo Cavalcante, stated that the 19 signed memorandums already add up to US$ 20 billion to be invested in the next five years in the state, thus guaranteeing financial security for the continuity of the undertakings.
Now, the Government of Ceará will continue to invest in the search for new projects for the Complexo do Pecém hub and the next three memorandums will be just part of the expansion plan in the energy sector.
