Cemig opens competition for helicopter pilot

Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) has opened enrollment for a new public tender, with the aim of providing a vacancy for helicopter pilots. 

The belt ring will be completed by someone who has completed high school, who has a valid commercial pilot license (PCH), first class aeronautical medical certificate and proven experience of at least 2.500 flight hours. Candidates for the vacancy helicopter pilot will have the chance to take off for the role on May 2nd, when registration closes. 

To participate, it is necessary to disburse a fee in the amount of R$200 or request exemption from this payment. The grand finale will be held on June 25th and those evaluated need to be prepared to face an objective test (multiple choice). You best rated will also undergo title reviews and pre-employment medical examination prior to appointment.

To the winners, Cemig offers above-average remuneration: R$20.970,42 for a 40-hour week – a salary worthy of the modern hero who will be in charge of the helicopter's controls. The tender will be valid for two years, with the possibility of extension.

How to Prepare for a Helicopter Pilot Contest

You don't need a college degree to become a pilot of helicopter, but it requires going through a series of theoretical and practical training and taking specific exams for each of the categories determined by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). 

After completing the necessary training, consisting of theoretical and practical classes, and the ANAC exam, the candidate will be able to work as a pilot by helicopter. The salary varies depending on the size of the aircraft, pilot experience, function performed and area of ​​expertise. 

A small pilot can earn between R$3.000 and R$5.000; a medium-sized one can have a salary between R$5.000 and R$15.000; while pilots who work in the offshore area (transporting people from the coast to oil platforms) can earn around R$ 18.000 (captain) or R$ 12.000 (copilot).

The increase in the helicopter fleet in the country, in addition to exploration in the pre-salt layer, significantly contribute to this demand. The training is expensive – around R$100 – but it is worth investing in this dream as the possibilities are as big as the sky.
