Joint actions by Vibra, EZVolt and the City of Rio de Janeiro favor electric mobility

With a potential increase in sales of electric cars in Brazil, starting with Camaçari through Chinese BYD, the innovative electric mobility startup, EZVolt, part of Vibra's renewable energy portfolio, is one of the companies approved by the Sandbox.Rio project. This initiative, launched by the City of Rio de Janeiro and implemented by the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development, Innovation and Simplification, encourages the adoption of sustainable and advanced technologies in the city, starting with Electrostation installations.

The Innovative Partnership

“Sandbox.Rio is an important facilitator for innovation and local development. It provides a controlled and safe environment, where new technologies can be tested and improved, enabling a regulatory framework that is more receptive to innovations”, comments Vanessa Gordilho, vice president of business and marketing at Vibra.

EZVolt was chosen after a public call for innovative projects that still do not comply with existing regulations. With approval, the startup will be allowed to install a network of charging stations for electric vehicles in strategically mapped locations in the city.

The Power of Electromobility

The proposal is to establish eight ultra-fast charging points, spread over several neighborhoods. These charging stations will be able to serve a variety of users, from owners of electric and hybrid cars, local residents and tourists, to fleets of logistics and vehicles of applications.

“The city of Rio de Janeiro is positioning itself as a hub of innovation and sustainability, with a growing adoption of ESG initiatives. This electric vehicle charging network in public places is one of the first of its kind in Brazil”, emphasizes Gustavo Tannure, CEO of EZVolt.

Pioneering and Impact on the Future

The City of Rio de Janeiro launched Sandbox.Rio with the aim of testing innovative products, services and processes that can bring substantial benefits to the local population and the city as a whole.

The Secretary for Economic Development, Chicão Bulhões, highlights: “Sandbox.Rio represents a unique opportunity for the population and companies to test new innovative services in a safe way. We want to make Rio the innovation capital of Brazil, the best place for companies to test, correct and learn, while we prepare for the inevitable arrival of new innovations”.

Leadership in the Electric Vehicle Recharging Market

Vibra and EZVolt have stood out as leaders in the electric vehicle recharge market in Brazil. The company's strategy is to provide electric charging for its customers, whether individuals or companies. Currently, EZVolt operates in 13 Brazilian states, serving both the B2B market, with services for fleets of the largest companies in the country, and the B2C market with its charging stations in residential condominiums, business buildings and commercial establishments.

“We are committed to being the main provider of charging and energy supply solutions in Brazil, offering a robust, available and connected public charging network”, concludes Vibra.
