SUV better than Duster or EcoSport for less than R$ 30 thousand? Meet the cheap SUV JAC T6 that impresses with cutting-edge technology even almost 10 years after its launch.

Being the first JAC model in Brazil after the brand's change of attitude in the country, in mid-2015, the JAC T6 2016 is a cheap SUV that arrived at a time full of novelties and competing for a supporting role in this scenario. Being very unfairly treated at the time, this manages to be a better SUV than the Duster or EcoSport with several technologies and prices that start at R$ 30 thousand.

JAC T6 design impresses almost 10 years after launch

The brand's first affordable sports SUV, the 6 JAC T2016 arrived with the size of a mid-size SUV for the price of a small model and This was the brand's big move to differentiate itself from the market.

The SUV better than Duster is 4,47 m long and 1,84 m wide and has a competitive price starting at R$ 30 thousand on the used market.

Although it was sold, at the time, at the price of compact sports utility vehicles, starting at R$70, such as the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, in addition to models that were new at the time such as Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade and Peugeot 2008, the JAC T6, judging by its dimensions and equipment, could compete with larger models such as Hyundai Tucson, ix35, Kia Sportage, Honda CR-V etc.

The look of the cheap SUV is well developed, with lines that resemble an Audi Q3 at the rear. At the front, the lines are clearly those of a JAC, showing that the brand had already begun to create a visual identity that continues throughout the line, a clear demonstration of the development of its design departments.

JAC T6 SUV delivers up to 160 hp

Under the hood of the JAC T6, an SUV better than the Duster, there is a 2.0-liter 16V VVT JetFlex four-cylinder engine, with a cylinder head made of aluminum.

The engine delivers 155 to 160 horsepower, both at 6.000 RPM when fueled with gasoline and ethanol, respectively. The engine is complemented by a five-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. Unfortunately, there is no automatic transmission or 4×4 traction, which limits the list of customers looking for these items.

The brakes are disc brakes on all four wheels with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake distribution (EBD). The wheels are 17-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive design. The cheap SUV comes equipped with several convenience items, such as electric windows, locks and mirrors, and the mirrors can be folded down with the simple touch of a button.

On the console, the SUV, better than the Duster, offers a 12V socket and USB connection. The list of convenience and safety items continues with automatic door locking at 15 km/h, parking sensor with rear camera and multifunction steering wheel with height adjustment.

What to look for when buying the SUV considered better than the Duster?

Even though it is a great model, it is necessary to pay attention to some details. According to complaints from owners on websites, there is an oil leak through the valve cover gasket, which is easy and cheap to repair. Other points are related to replacing the stabilizer bar bushing and steering box bushings.

Other problems state that an indicator light appears on the dashboard indicating steering problems, rear doors with loose screws make noises when opening and closing, defects in the tank float. There are rumors of the EPC light that came on once on the dashboard and never went off again, warped brake disc with less than 30 thousand km, among others.
