The years 2021 and 2022 were marked by a 50% growth in natural gas consumer units in the state. Cigás is preparing a plan for infrastructure works to meet fuel consumption in the Amazon.

The Companhia de Gás do Amazonas (Cigás) is keeping an eye on the growth of the natural gas market in the northern state of the country. Between 2021 and 2022, there was a 50% expansion in fuel consumer units in the state. In this way, the company has an infrastructure works plan for the expansion of the gas pipeline network prepared for the year 2023, aiming to meet the high demand in the regional market.

The Amazon market saw a 50% growth in natural gas consumer units between 2021 and 2022, according to Cigás surveys

The fuel market, especially natural gas, has become increasingly relevant on the national scene.

However, some states are achieving surprising results for the current socioeconomic situation in the country, such as, for example, Amazonas.

According to surveys by Cigás, the number of natural gas consumer units in the state increased by around 50% between 2021 and 2022.

Until December 2021, the number of units contracted was 8.394, in December 2022, the number jumped to 12.651 units.

The segments served by the company in the region include thermoelectric, industrial, vehicular, commercial, residential and self-generation/liquefaction.

Cigás is witnessing an accelerated expansion in fuel consumption throughout Amazonas and is preparing for the coming months of 2023.

This is because the projection for growth in consumer units remains high, with expectations of an expansion of around 30% this year. With this, it is expected to surpass the mark of 16 thousand users.

Infrastructure works plan for the natural gas distribution network to consumer units started in 2022 and should extend until the end of 2023

To ensure security in the supply of natural gas in the Amazon, Cigás is now preparing a plan for infrastructure works in the state grid.

In this way, several action fronts are foreseen, called pockets of works to expand the gas pipeline network in streets and avenues of the north, south, east and center-west zones of the city.

Cigás was already preparing throughout 2022 to ensure adequate infrastructure for the expansion of natural gas consumer units in Amazonas.

Thus, it started its work plan last year, extending until now, with completion forecast still in the first half of 2023.

The works are: Max Teixeira, Industrial District (stage 3), Eliza Miranda (stage 1) and Dom Pedro (third stage) pockets.

Now, Cigás continues with the work plan to guarantee the necessary infrastructure for strong growth in natural gas consumer units in the state.
