Cisco, from Brazil, is offering free courses and online networking technology for cis and transgender women across the country. The initiative, entitled Woman Rock It, was launched in support of the International Girls in ICT Day, a global movement that aims to motivate girls and women to dedicate themselves to the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and is aligned with Cisco's purpose of promoting an inclusive future for all.

The first stage is qualifying and includes the Networking Essentials course, which lasts 70 hours and must be completed by June 20th. Performed in mode self learning, with content in English at a basic level, the program teaches how to plan and install a home or small business network, using wireless technology, promoting the practice of verifying and solving network and internet connectivity problems, and also teaches to recognize and mitigate security threats, among other skills.
1000 cis and trans women aged 16 and over will start the first module of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 7.0, internationally recognized networking training in the IT career
Divided into four stages and lasting approximately seven months, the free and online Cisco Networking Academy are intended for women who are 16 years of age or older.

The 1.000 students classified in the Networking Essentials will start the first module of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) 7.0, training in networks with international recognition in the IT career, which will be taught by videoconference by Cisco Webex.
The CCNA consists of three modules in Portuguese, in which students will learn the functions necessary to support the operations of both companies and small retailers. Students will be able to build simple local area networks (LANs), develop a working knowledge of IP addressing schemes, in addition to mastering basic network security and being able to perform basic configurations for routers and switches.
Requirements to compete for vacancies in free courses and online from Cisco technology
- Be woman;
- Be over 16 years old;
- Internet access and a computer with an i3 processor or equivalent, Windows 10, 4Gb of RAM and 27 GB of hard disk are required.
Lessons are now available. Each participant has until 15 pm on June 20 to complete the qualifying Networking Essentials course.
