Infrastructure of the port of Niterói will be one of the attractions highlighted in the prospection of the city for potential investors
The incentive agency NitNegócios signed an agreement with the city of Niterói last week, in order to attract companies to the city and rebuild the naval segment. Since investment expectations are high, after consortia led by foreign companies won six of the 13 pre-salt areas tendered by the federal government last year.
The agency will have one year to map the type of business in the municipality, with the aim of developing strategies that will be presented to companies in the segment, at fairs and national and international events. 1,9 million from Niterói City Hall.

According to Giovanna Victer, Treasury secretary of the municipality, the agreement has greater objectives than publicizing the city to sectors that are business inducers:
“The main focus will be on the oil and gas sector, but we are starting to carry out an in-depth study to justify these investments based on the return it generates for the city in terms of employment and investment in the oil and gas hubs; technology and entrepreneurship; civil construction for social housing, through public-private partnership models (PPP); pharmaceuticals, through an agreement with Instituto Vital Brazil, which will start manufacturing serums; and hospitality, which involves the areas of tourism, sport, leisure and entertainment,” said Giovanna.
Niterói City Hall raised R$ 1,33 billion in royalties and special participations in oil exploration, making these resources 41,8% of the entire revenue of the municipality.
The revenue from royalties is expected to last for another six or eight years, assumes Giovana. It informs that the strategies will also be to attract revenues in other businesses
“In addition to dredging (the Canal de São Lourenço, where the city government announced it will invest BRL 200 million to increase the depth of the draft and allow access for large vessels to the shipyards on the banks of Avenida do Contorno, in Barreto), we need to bring together a series of factors to promote the naval sector. We have to remove the blame that the sector is scrapped, showing that it is well organized. Let's turn to the executives of the big oil companies and show that Niterói has the structure to repair vessels, flexible pipes, show that they can settle here, because we have good urban infrastructure and renowned educational institutions. The City Hall will not invest directly, but it has the role of coordinating these agents and wants to assume this role”, completes Giovanna.
